Mauricio Baiocchi is a 15 year veteran of the Visual Effects and Animation industry. After leaving Industrial Light and Magic in 2002, he took on the role as Animation Supervisor at The Orphanage. There he oversaw animation on Hellboy, Sky Captain, and Sin City. In 2005 he opened up his own creative boutique in Berkeley, called Assemble where he directed and produced a variety of live action and animation projects for agency clients worldwide. In 2009 he was the Visual Effects Supervisor on the film Warrior and The Wolf. On that film he got to work directly with Director Tian Zhuangzhuang on the high deserts of Mongolia doing camera layouts and 2nd unit directing. Assemble closed in 2010 under the pressures of the industry, and Mauricio found his second calling coming back to the long lost art form of puppetry. He currently teaches at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and works as a freelance writer / director to fund his puppetry projects.

I'm guessing they've just been really busy working on getting new scenes done, possibly taking summer holidays - would be great to get an update again though. Mauricio?

I'm getting excited. Fun to watch myself...feeling all connected and proud and expectant about a project I'm not involved in, produced by artists I've never met...Thanks for the opportunity to find out what it's like to be a Kickstarter backer. I think I'll be less scaredy-cat about bringing some of my own work here.

Congratulations! I must have watched the trailer 100 times and I can't wait until the project is completed. I am a passionate fan of both Tim Burton and stop-motion animation. The look and feel really stirs something deep in my heart, so thanks for the inspiration.

Hello from New Zealand! I'd just like to say that your art made me cry, and I've only seen the photos and the promotional video. I know it's not my work or anything, but I feel extremely proud and priveliged to be able to be a part of something so beautiful, even in such a small way. Wow. Over one thousand backers. (What, one thousand?) Anyway, I'd love to see this film.
I emailed the project head through Kickstarter prior to pledging... he confirmed that the hi-def media will be BLURAY and there will also be a standard definition DVD.
The media type error stayed in place as the pledge rank descriptions cannot be changed once the a project goes live.
Amazing stuff. The film is going to be stunning. Proud to be able to be a part of it.
