CUSTOM WOOD VENEERS TO PROTECT AND ENHANCE YOUR IPHONE
With real wood veneers from Toast you can add both grip and protection to the iPhone 4 and 4S without adding to the phone’s size or covering up the elegant design. The texture of the wood grain makes it much less slippery and you can toss your iPhone on a table without worrying about scratching the back glass.
And, just as importantly, the veneer enhances the look of the iPhone by adding warm natural materials and allowing you to personalize your phone. Who wants their iPhone to look exactly like the other 50 million of them out there?

The best way to support Toast is to pre-order your custom veneer. Pledges of $20 and up are essentially pre-orders of custom veneers at a special Kickstarter-only price (saving you at least $5 off the retail price). You can choose from two different woods, either a rich, chocolaty walnut or a whitewashed, quarter-cut ash.
Keep it simple or add one of eight cool etched designs, some of which feature cutouts that let the silver of the apple logo show through.
Then personalize your veneer further by adding custom text that will be laser etched into the wood. Add your name or contact information, or perhaps a favorite quote or poem.
All pre-orders also get the option of including an exclusive Kickstarter Sponsor logo etched into your veneer, so you can flaunt the fact that you were part of making Toast possible.
If you like this project but don't have an iPhone, you can still support us. For a $5 pledge you will receive two wood stickers, etched with the Toast and Kickstarter Sponsor logos.

Nope. The adhesive will not leave any residue on the phone when you remove it. The veneer is tough and the adhesive is very well bonded to the wood, so you can pry off the veneer save it and put it back on later. These veneers are reusable. I have pulled them off 15-20 times without hurting the wood or leaving anything on the phone.

The adhesive makes a great seal to the glass so it will stay on there as long as you want it to. But it is also quite easy to remove the veneer. Simply pry it up with your fingernail. The veneers are totally reusable. I have removed and reset them 15-20 times without damage to the veneer or leaving any residue on the phone. If you lose the original backing paper, you can put wax paper or aluminum foil over the adhesive to keep it clean until you next use it.

Yes! The Toast veneer actually fits perfectly into the open back of the Apple bumper.

I am an Industrial Designer and Furniture Maker. I have always tried to bridge the gap between designing for mass manufacture and my love for the crafting of natural materials. Usually these things are mutually exclusive, but I think that in Toast I found a way to bring them together. I strongly believe that beautiful things, clever solutions, and natural materials really can enhance our lives. And I hope that with Toast, I can make those daily interactions with your iPhone a little bit more personal and enjoyable.
