Hey all!
I'm a 23-year-old Kent State University grad and I just got back from spending two months in northern Tanzania, where I volunteered working with widows and orphans affected by HIV/AIDS. It was the best experience of my life, and I recently deferred acceptance into law school so that I would be able to go back this year.
I was involved in some amazing projects while I was in Tanzania. Besides working with the orphanage I taught French at a vocational school where I worked with older teens from the community. I also did home visits with HIV+ women and their children. I worked with women who were widowed due to AIDS--they started their own tourism business, and we helped to get it off the ground.
I love to travel, and can't wait to go back to Tanzania! Right now I'm just working and fundraising for my return trip. Thanks so much for checking out my project! Much love!
Congratulations, Carolyn on being funded! Keep us in the loop. Best Wishes, Robert
I hope you get fully funded and then some, Carolyn. One thought I had, is create a symbol or image that has greater relevance to the kids and the community you are working in. I believe in peace and all it's many representations, perhaps there is a more culturally relevant image you can create? A heart? Spreading love and pause for peace!
Keep up the good work!
