About this project
"Moving Takahashi" is a story of a robbery and a race against time to save a life. But it's also an exploration of the space between human frailty and moxie, with two desperate but determined characters crashing into each other and failing spectacularly.
Craig (29) gets by on meager wages from his job at the Takahashi Moving company, which means he spends most of his time walking around in empty houses. Nothing is permanent for Craig, who romanticizes great thieves—from Robin Hood to Danny Ocean—but has never before pulled off a successful heist. When Mr. Takahashi sends Craig alone on a job to pack up the Clark estate, Craig finds himself on the brink of a perfect crime: a small fortune of artwork, jewelry, and furniture packed into his getaway truck.
The plan hits a bump in the road when Craig discovers young Juliana Clark (25), who has just swallowed a massive cocktail of pharmaceuticals and has, roughly speaking, maybe thirty minutes to live. By no means a hardened criminal, it's up to Craig to save her life, even though he fully intends to rob her home.
We wrote this script because we believe in the inspirational power of story-telling. We believe that truly beautiful films are both aesthetically and emotionally rich. We believe that any story worth telling must have heart, no matter what the subject matter. We believe that "Moving Takahashi" is one of those stories, and we need your help to make it happen.
Films, even small independent short films, are incredibly difficult to make—and they cost a lot. In order to do justice to the story on the page, we've assembled a roster of ridiculously talented people to shoot, edit, design, produce, and act in this film. We need to pay for equipment, props, locations and crew for what will be a labor of love—and, quite frankly, a lot of hard work. That's why we're asking that you make a contribution, of any amount, toward the production of this film. Know that when you do, you'll be playing a vital role in turning an idea into something real—something you can see and hear and feel—which, in our humble opinions, sounds like a fantastic way to spend a few bucks.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Now let's make an amazing movie.
