About this project

Quality Time is an original web series that follows super-cute and popular Youtube stars Catrific and Strawburry17.

The series' tone is an intersection of Modern Family, The Office, and The Hills. We go behind the scenes of Youtube and find out just what happens when you move out to LA, move in with a "friend" you hardly know, and start to make it big in Youtube.

The show is clean, funny, awkward, cute, and features guest appearances from BIG Youtube celebs like Mystery Guitar Man, Ijustine, Meekakitty, and many more! You'll see one of your favorite Youtube stars EVERY episode!

The pilot is written and the cast and crew is ready to go. All we need is your support to make the pilot look and sound as awesome as possible. REMEMBER, IF WE DON'T MAKE OUR GOAL, WE DON'T GET FUNDED; and then we can't make the rest of the series.

So PLEASE, give what you can. There are tons of cool rewards, including a chance to be on the show with actual lines! All your dreams are coming true.

Thank you so much for checking out the page and please contribute to making Quality Time happen. You are all very, very great.

FAQ

  • No, but it is based IN reality. The show is scripted (Did you know The Hills had writers? We know. Gasp! Call the cops!)

The only "reality" bits come from Cat and Meghan doing their vlogs to in a way to inform the story. For example, Meghan is a Felicia Day fan in real life, and so is her character on the show. Cat will mention this to a friend during a scene and then we'll cut to Meghan's vlog setup and show her with a TON of Felicia Day stuff in the background and she says, "There's still a lot in storage," much like the way The Office does it.

  • We know and we totally get it. Even if you donate a dollar (and there was one person who donated 2.51, which is just a funny number) we will be personally thanking you. Just even coming to this page means so much to us and parting with your hard earned cash in these times is really humbling and incredible and we honestly, truly appreciate it.

  • We would, but you'd hate it.

In LA, making something that looks good (and the people involved in this show will make it look GREAT) costs money. You have to pay someone called a Director of Photography whose only job is to make all of your moving shots look amazing, and our guy is GREAT. He did "Dubstep Guns," and "Shock Troopers" on CorridorDigital and a LOT more.

There's also sound. And food. And cool props (there's a giant sword in the first episode.) And equipment. And a lot else that goes into a professional production, which is what this is. Believe it or not, this is a VERY low number for the kind of show we'll be making. If this were going on TV (or even one of the new Youtube Original channels) this would cost probably closer to 10,000 dollars. We know. That's a lot of money.

For the people who make this (Cat and Meghan included) this is a job. This is how these folks earn their living, and oftentimes in the web, we're severely underpaid if we're paid at all. We are all working on two or three different projects at a time; we just believe in this show so completely that we're taking a risk like Kickstarter to make it happen.

  • Good question! We're probably going to make them about 5-7 minutes long, but the Beta episode and the musical...

Last updated: Friday Nov 25, 10:52am EST
  • Yep. But first we need to make the pilot to prove to the suits that we can handle a series. Also, probably an explosion or two.

  • Cat and Meghan make really great, really insightful, honest, inspiring vlogs. In the show, they'll be playing themselves, but caricatures of themselves. Ijustine will be in the show, but she'll be playing a heightened version of herself to play up the comedy.

The girls will wind up in situations that are INSPIRED by real life and their vlogs. For example, in one of Cat's videos a while back she mentioned being an awkward person at parties because she always assumes two people are a couple when they're not. In the show, that situation will occur with interesting results. Stuff like that.

Connected as Woody Tondorf (2366 friends)

"Quality Time" stars Catrific and Strawburry17, who both command legions of awesome fans. Their combined subscribers are in the neighborhood of 306,000. They have lovely singing voices.

The series is written and directed by Woody Tondorf, who created the Youtube series "Elevator," the short "The Great Office War," and starred as Link in Comedy Central's "Video Game Reunion." He writes for a pop culture recap show on Hulu and is willing to be your friend.

TJ Rotell is the series producer. He has produced a number of shorts for the popular geek girl group Team Unicorn and recently coordinated production on season 5 of The Guild. He's rather good at his job.

There is a dog named Beta. She's such a diva.
