Alisa,
It looked great, congratulations. My kids wanted everyone to see the frying pans, and they showed their classes where you were.
Any pans left? My son was keen to make pancakes....

Just back from Grand Rapids and Artprize. The piece was fantastic. There always seemed to be a crowd around it and you are in the top 25. Congratulations. It was also great to meet you. I hope you made it the gardens.
Creator Nolan H on September 12, 2011
I look forward to seeing this at Artprize.

You are brilliant! what a great idea. I would love to buy a NH frying pan at some point. As they say in NH - this is "wicked". :D

This work caught my attention, and kept it. My sister is thoughtful, brilliant and quietly hilarious; an artist. The suble changes and nuances over the years in her work are tributes to her talent.
Your work gives me the same pleasure. Keep changing, keep grabbing people's attention.
Cheers Alisa. Cheers, Patricia
Creator Benjamin Royer on July 27, 2011
I grew up in Louisiana and we always had cast iron on the stove. I still live with a wonderful cast iron skillet on the stove top (thanks mom.) When I saw this project, I had to do a double take with excitement. Obviously, you had already made the goal by the time I pledged, but this project 'speaks' to me like no other that I have backed. What a fantastic idea - touches my heart and my soul, I am an old country cook at my roots and I thank you!!! btr

Awesome project Alisa. I'm a Michigander currently living, working and moonwalking in Chicago. Congrats on making this happen. Adding to the words of Deadly Tedly: Kill it, Grill it and Skillet!

Shaun !_ Yeah ! - Love the map inclusion link ! - NOW I know where you're from when you say Laramie .. Hey, but I"m gunna turn your "Wyoming skillet " into a heart for the reward ~ hope that's okay! - Don't worry, I make personal touches that won't leave you feeling miffed !

Hello Backers,
This is Alisa's brother (#2). I'm happy to see my little sis reached her goal already through this website. Cool idea!!! Keep the pledges coming in and forward the message to your friends to help my sister with the costs of making the iron HEARTS, not skillets. The skillets are for the art project itself I believe. Also, I can't imagine how much the shipping costs will be to send the iron HEARTS out to all you fine Backers. Thanks for pledging and making this thing project happen for Alisa!!! You don't know how much this means to her. I don't even know how much this means to here. OK. Bye.

Alisa!
If possible, I'd like Wyoming in my skillet with a dot where Laramie is and the word Laramie near that dot (like on a map).

Thanks!
Creator Phil Kuntz on July 24, 2011
thanks, alisa. yes, I knew it would be an NJ outline in a heart-shaped skillet, a kinda "I love NJ" sorta thing. my dad, RIP, used to make candle sconces in the shapes of states, so this bit of neo-folk art will go with that old bit of kitsch. that said, you should consider a limited edition run of each state. I would probably buy an NJ skillet just to make an NJ omlette or pancake with!

Hi. I didn't know you found a venue in MI. That's cool. Don't worry about making us a heart...
I have another project idea that I will reveal up in Birchwood on vacation.

John ! -- You're From PA !?!?! Awesome ! I LOVE PENNSYLVANIA !! I was just out there for my first time a month or so ago- in Scranton- HAD A BLAST there, - literally ,- got to pour iron and kick it with some amazing folks - Loved it !-- - Same heads up though about the skillet/iron heart miss understanding. ,-- I will make you a little iron heart ! - And can draw the shape of pennsylvania state inside it- or the state bird, - or the your favorite flower, or a line of poetry .... whatever- It's my personal " WOW - THANK YOU SO MUCH " to you,..and I will try to make it as personalized as possible !!!

Hey Alisa
You probably are wondering who "Roxane" is. Al (Hutzell) & I met you at MIAD a few years back and you sent an email about this project. We love the idea and wanted to be part of the team. Keep us posted. What a wonderful concept.
Creator Alisa on July 23, 2011
Hey Phil ~ DONE ! -- Haha-- That's a cool one ! -- I'll have fun with it- I know that shape very intimately-- I hand sanded the east coast for a SOLID 2 weeks.-- But not to miss lead~ It will be the shape of NJ drawn in an IRON HEART...not a skillet .. Sorry-- I hope that's clear in the project ! !?- It will be just as cool and special, I promise! - but perhaps not the best cooking surface ";}
