Update #3: unbelievable news
Dear Friends and Supporters,
A few weeks ago I received some incredible, unbelievably bad news.
You may have noticed that I have been less than active with updates on this project launch.
Here's why-
After the recent national Hungarian elections, the former liberal government was voted out for a far-right conservative one. As promised, this new government canceled all programs put in place by the old government. My project was included in this. I was told three days before the planned start of the installation that I was collateral damage in the Hungarian political wars. As my friend said, "its like a natural disaster... as if a volcano blew up the gallery!"
For the last few weeks I have been petitioning this new government to allow the show to go on. Yesterday, it seems, the news came through that it is officially dead.
The good news is that all the parts for the piece are completely built and because of the excitement surrounding the sculpture I have many leads on a new venue. I am sure that one will be found and a new opening date will come with it. Once I have those nailed down and work is begun on installing the piece, my plan is to re-launch this project.
When I do, I hope you will join me again in make this catalog come to life! Thank you,
Janos
Update #2: Boston Related
Hi All,
The work on the the project continues. This week I'll be working with my assistant cutting out the 650 diamonds from the 5'x90' inkjet print (see pic). Then we will start organizing them to be attached to the piece. Onward. Talk soon
(This bit is sort of a side note.)
I have two works in an exhibition in Boston (see evite). If you are in the area, hope you'll check them out!

I am a New/Mixed Media Sculptor based in New York, who blends formal sculpture with digital technology.
My overall work deals with the relationships we have through and with the Internet examining atoms and bits, who's shared characteristics facilitate a symbiotic relationship between people and computers. I have exhibited throughout in N. America and in Europe.
At 22, I began teaching sculpture at Brown University, moving to Lesley University in 1999. I now teach in Second Life, the on-line world, for SUNY Buffalo and lecture at Pratt and the School of Visual Art, New York City and through out the Northeast.
Hi Jani
I am sorry to hear the news - although not entirely unexpected in this world where things are changing at the speed of light. In some ways apropos to your work - how our physical reality is getting blended with the lightning fast changes that are facilitated by the instant communication of the cyber world. Perhaps should make us think more seriously about what can happen here - as Frank Zappa aptly sarcastically stated - "It can't happen here" - but it might if we keep our heads in the sand. I think your work is so important to keep us aware of how we can navigate and stay conscious in this brave new world. I am sure you will find a new venue. I like to believe that everything happens for a reason and that there will be an even more positive outcome for your efforts. Please keep me posted and good luck!!
