perfect Jeff. thanx much!
can't wait to see what you guys come up with next!
@Kurt: We did want to include turn order cards, but we were limited by cost of goods and didn't want to shortchange you on Mooks and/or Mafia cards to do that.
And you're right, if you draw an additional card in step 4, you can't play it until your next turn unless it is a Special card that lets you play it at any time.
And you only have to discard a piece of evidence after you Whack a Mook. Since a Fuhgeddaboutit cancels the action, the attacker does not have to discard anything. So if you don't commit a crime, you don't have to discard any evidence.
nice game guys - really appreciate it!
couple suggestions - you might wanna include a 2 - 3 cards in the deck that have the turn order five steps on them. kinda hard for newbies to remember what to do and in what order? Unless I'm wrong about the rule, you might want to specify that after step 4 - you can't immediately play the mafia card you just drew (unless a special card)? it seems obvious but people keep trying
And rule question - if player A goes to whack an opponent's mook, and the opponent plays a fuhgeddaboutit, does player A's mook still need to discard a piece of evidence? i think so but it's not clear.
can't wait to play this when the family gets together at the beach in a couple months!
Warsaw, Poland, reporting for mob duty. We'll be playing tomorrow on our weekly game night.
Received mine a few days ago, just got done playing it as part of our family game night and it was a hit ... no pun intended.
@Kirk: I have one other report of this happening. It appears a few games were packaged incorrectly. I've notified the printer so they can try and figure out what went wrong, but in the meantime I'm going to get this corrected. Anyone that runs into this problem should send me an email.
I just received my 2 copies. Looking at both it appears they have 2 sets of Mafia Decks, and No Mook Decks. Did this happens to anyone else? Is there someone who got all Mook Decks I can swap with?
Received mine! Thanks!
Received our copies yesterday, thanks. Cards look great! Can't wait to play with the kids.
Got my copy today and got it sleeved (Fantasy Flight green pack sleeves). Now for Thursday night to get everyone together to play!
Got mine too! Now just have to wait til Saturday for our game night!
@Roger: We just started shipping Deadfellas to all our backers at the end of last week, so I'm surprised you got yours so quickly. But everyone else should be on the lookout for their copies, which should be coming in the next week or so.
My copy of Deadfellas arrived today! We're about to try it out.
@Jeff, having worked in video games for a while as well as having done play testing for a variety board games, rpg's and card games I feel confident in saying that JD has no clue as to what goes into getting something like this out. I hope you guys don't take his sentiment as being the majority. I would rather see a completed and quality product than watch another game be rushed out the door to make a marketing deadline. If JD decided to get his money back, let me know and I will buy his share.
@JD: I understand how you feel, JD, and I'm sure you are not alone. The delays have been frustrating and embarrassing, to say the least. Rest assured that if it were as simple as just getting it done, I would have done so already. We have the cards, we have the design, and thanks to our Kickstarter backers, we have the money for the print run. We just need to iron out all the details that go into doing a large print run--and unfortunately, that takes time. And when you switch printers, you have to start that process again.
Regardless, I'm not going to make any more excuses. I am well aware that people have put their faith in me and Exile and getting Deadfellas out the door is my top priority--and has been for some time. But if you or anyone feels like your faith has been misplaced, send me a personal message and I'll see that we refund your money.
It's been almost 3 months since this project was "funded". I think folks deserve to see a finished product. Especially since the project was advertised as "finished and ready to go to the printers". What we have seen are one excuse after another. Can't find a printer, want to do more artwork, found more ways to make the game fun. Enough already. Set some clear goals and take care of the folks who took care of you. As it stands now, I personally won't back anymore projects with either your name or Exile Game Studios name.
@Loretta: We can't wait to get Deadfellas into people's hands. Fortunately, it looks like we've found a reliable domestic printer--which is no small feat, I assure you. But the extra time has allowed us to do some additional playtesting and we've found a couple of ways to make the game even more fun, so it's hard to feel too badly about the delay. We think everyone will like the finished product. Regardless, I'll be sure to post an update as soon as we have the printer situation sorted out. That'll be big news!
Hi, how has the progress been? I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the game!
@JD: You bet, JD. I've had an update in the works for a few days now, but keep getting sidetracked and haven't posted it yet. I'll put the finishing touches on that and get that out tonight.
Hello... can we get an update on the status of this project?
@JD: Thanks for your understanding. I'll be sure to post as soon as the cards are off to the printer.
@Doug: Kickstarter only lets me send out one survey to backers, so I'm holding off on sending it until we get ready to mail out the games. With that being said, Brian just finished up the original sketches for backers that pledged $100 or more. So I've asked for addresses from those folks so I can get those out as soon as possible.
@Marc: Thanks! We got great feedback on Deadfellas at Gen Con. I'll post an update about that later.
Got your demo of this at the Con. Awesome!
Anyone get a survey for this project yet?
I dont rhink it was necessarily misleading, bit more on the lines of confusing. Thank you for the clarification and hope to see the fruits of your labor soon.
Good question, JD. I'll bet some other people are wondering the same thing. Let me clarify.
The art and design for Deadfellas are done, as is the gameplay. But continued playtesting has brought up one or two things to tweak--namely clarifying some wording and shifting around the bullet holes on some cards. So aside from those minor changes, the game is ready to go to the printers.
Now, each printer has a different formatting requirements for their card sheets, and our printer selection depended on how well the Kickstarter project went--some handle volume better than others. So now that Deadfellas is funded, we're picking out the printer and getting the card sheets put together. So while the game is done, there is still a lot of work that goes into "sending it to the printers" and I wanted to be open about that.
Aside from that, though. We have some promo cards to make. And it's looking like we'll want to get those printed at the same time as the rest of the cards. So that is one area where the card art is not done yet. But we're figuring that out now and it shouldn't hold us up for long as we can get that done while working out the above details.
So I apologize if I misled you in any way. Totally unintentional, I assure you. I just want you all to know where we're at with Deadfellas so you can see it moving along, step by step.
So I am honestly happy that this project was funded and that I contributed. However, I would like to understand why on the project description this game was described as "done and ready to go to the printers" when your latest project update indicates that it clearly is not done nor is it ready for the printer.
Congrats to all for not only getting the funding but for blowing the goal out of the water!
The Mooks may be going down, CW, but your star is clearly on the rise. Thanks for the support!
Mooks are going down!
Thanks, Stephen. We're really happy to have reached our goal--and we're really looking forward to getting Deadfellas into people's hands. We've still got some work to do to make that happen, but that's only because we care about giving people a great game.
Congratulations on reaching your goal! I can't wait to play this game.
I'd be happy to, Fred. I always comparing notes with you.
Shwanky! We should compare notes on card printing sometime.
Thanks, Eloy. We're pretty happy with how it turned out.
Looking good as always, Jeff!
