Welcome to the Rapp Brewing Company Kickstarter project page!

The goal of this project is to fund the brewery's tasting room. We want to create the perfect environment for beer enthusiasts to come and sample the latest brewmaster's creations. We love to share our beers and get feedback as we continuously strive to improve and create new beers.

Greg Rapp, our brewmaster, started making wine over 30 years ago. He later added sake and mead making. Eight years ago he received a beer making kit for Christmas and soon found himself with a hobby that was outgrowing his house! Two years ago he founded the Pinellas Urban Brewers Guild - a home brewing club, which quickly grew to over 100 members! The club attended many craft beer events in the area where Greg was able to get feedback on his beers from thousands of craft beer aficionados. The overwhelming response was "Wow! Where can I buy this beer?". So, after over 200 batches and many awards he decided to follow his passion and open a brewery...

We are opening a nano sized brewery in the heart of Pinellas County Florida. We specialize in small batch, hand crafted, artisanal Ales and Lagers. We focus on creativity - exploring beer styles and variations on them. We also brew styles that have long been thought lost and artfully create brews reminiscent of ages long ago. We plan on limited distribution and instead desire to focus on direct interaction with craft beer enthusiasts. In that effort we are including a 650 sq. ft. tasting room in our brewery build out and will be using the funds generated by this Kickstarter project to develop the perfect atmosphere for craft beer lovers to meet, sample our creations, and discuss their thoughts about our beers with us and their peers. This will be a great place to meet friends and explore all the interesting beers we will have on tap. We also plan on hosting periodic events - maybe monthly, which will include special release beers, food, and entertainment.

What do You get?

Everyone who donates will be listed on our wall of fame in the tasting room.  Impress all your friends when you bring them to the brewery and show them that you helped make this possible! Also notice that all award levels accumulate - for each level you get that level and all prior levels! We hope that each of you can stop by the brewery to personally pick up your awards - we would love to meet you, but we realize that is not always possible so we will be happy to ship them to you. Also don't worry if you can't make an award event at the brewery - we will try and schedule several over a period of time. If you are out of town we also have you covered - just let us know when you will be in the area and we will arrange something special just for you!

What do We get?

We will use these funds for the build out of our tasting room. The plans call for approximately 650 square feet including a twelve foot bar, ADA compliant bathroom, and table seating for up to 32 beer lovers. We will also have a large overhead door opening into the unused brewery area which can be opened to allow access during special events.

The Tampa Bay area (We) gets another brewery to add to its quickly growing list of breweries - adding to its reputation as a destination for craft beer lovers. The tasting room will be an added draw for tourists and local beer lovers!

Full Disclosure:

All funds from this project will be used exclusively for the tasting room and/or brewery. We do not draw a salary and do not plan on paying ourselves for at least the first 2 years. All profits (if any) will be reinvested in the brewery to allow for continuous improvement and growth.

Some details about us...

We are located in a 3,200 sq. ft. warehouse. Kind of empty looking - isn't it? Note the location of the tasting room up front on the left side...

The Brewery construction has begun - the brew house is nearing completion. We will be able to produce multiple 50 gallon batches on our direct fired custom built automated brewing system. That will be enough volume to supply the tasting room as well as limited local distribution of several of our brands. Using direct fire will allow us to create those great flavors through kettle caramelization which are a key signature of many styles.

We also have nearly 20 barrels of fermentation capacity spread over 12 fermentation vessels. This allows us to create a great variety of beers - we plan to have 20 on tap. We will also maintain an extensive yeast bank which contributes to the uniqueness of our beers since easily 1/3 of a beer's flavor is created by the yeast!

Our roots are in the home brewing community. Here is the PUBGuild at the 2011 Wazoo event in Tampa which was attended by over 5,000 craft beer fans. We had 17 beers on tap and were totally swamped for nearly 5 hours! We plan on maintaining our close ties to the home brewing community by hosting home brew events at the brewery. Exceptional home brewers will be provided the opportunity to brew their beers on our system and make them available in our tasting room.
