What do all of these social groups have in common?
All of these groups contradict the strictly defined social roles of male and female. Yet each and every person in these social groupings are natural biological examples of the diversity of the human species.
Society doesn't always see it that way. Why? Because they do not know, or do not understand the biological intricacies of the development within the human body. Prior to conception we all posses the capability to be born either male or female. At conception, an instant 'switch' in chromosomes determines whether your future will be light blue or pink.
And it's never perfect! People get caught 'in between' all the time. But the first question is always, 'Is it a boy or a girl?'. And our social culture always requires a strict answer.
The truth is nowhere near so simple. It is not black or white. It is a multitude of shades of gray. And this is our story.
Our goal is to reveal the factual science. Starting with an adventure into the insights of the diversity of the Animal Kingdom. Highlighting the magic of human development and the process of biological diversity. Continuing with a visual exploration of our cultural and mythological past.
Concluding with personal stories of real people living and surviving in between. Exploring how our society, our culture and our governments can serve us all better through inclusion . . . instead of the divisiveness, isolation and seclusion so prevalent.
We will challenge the bias and the prejudice. We will confront the hatred and the ignorance. We will reveal and solve the mysteries that have been blocking us all from realizing our greatest potential of compassion and understanding for ourselves and for others.

The Film, The Cast, The Crew, and The Money
We intend to shoot a 90 minute film that can be shown in it's entirety, or as three 30 minute segments, or two 45 minute segments. This will provide the flexibility to present the film to as many varied broadcast venues or formats as possible. Courageous intersex film maker of the recently acclaimed documentary, 'Wild Orchids, My Intersex Adventure'.
After Amazon takes their percentage for transaction processing, and Kickstarter takes their well deserved percentage for developing and maintaining this wonderful web site, and we set aside the money to honor our rewards to our much appreciated donors here, we will end up with about $17,000.
Of which $6000 will go to our Producer/Director. He is currently working on a professionally produced film trailer to present to our potential broadcast and corporate donors. He's agreed to kindly donate his time to work on the film trailer, but we still want to compensate his film crew for their expenses. The remainder will credit as an advance for his work on the feature film and will cover his administrative and travel expenses in developing funding from broadcast and corporate contacts.
$3000 will go as an advance for our researcher. We want to immediately begin the research process of gathering resources and information on the many technical facets of the topic and the volumes of resources we will require to create an engaging visual experience.
$4000 will be used as an advance for our lead writer. It is important we begin the scripting process immediately. The sooner we understand our story from the perspective of the script and the research, the sooner we will be able to organize crew resources and schedules for production.
$4000 for our Production Manager. Our Production Manger will be the backbone of all of our administrative tasks such as scheduling, accounting, legal and promotions.
We don't intend to waste a single penny of it, and our Producer/Director is certified in doing more with less, while retaining the highest quality standards in the industry. I won't get paid until we have completed the film. Or until we have sufficient funding to make the film and still reimburse me for my time and work. I've already gladly invested my time and resources into development. My goal as Executive Producer is to make sure the film gets made and to assure everyone is on the same track.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Taking on a delicate and sensitive topic, is both a risk and a challenge. Some people might think we are making another film on sexual preference. When in fact, we hope to dispel many preference myths. The film is not about preference. It's about the Science of physical variations in sex gender.
Other folks might feel these people aren't important enough, or that there are not enough of them for it to be a relevant topic for a feature documentary. We disagree, and this is one of the many reasons we are making this film.
Funding is always a challenge and a risk. But we feel the topic is important enough, the timing is right, and we have a strong team on board that will assure we get the support we require to make the best quality film possible.
Walking the tight wire between presenting the biological data and not getting too graphic will also be a challenge. We want to make this film educational so that young people around the world can watch it. But at the same time, we don't want to disregard the realities and complexities of the conditions.
Coordinating production crews and footage from different parts of the world is always a challenge. We hope to keep all shoots as consistent as possible to make it a smoother work flow for our editors in the edit suite.`
And finally, keeping the film politically unbiased is important. Very often films are heavily influenced by benefactors who may not have the same intentions as the film makers. We hope to avoid this pitfall by making it clear on what we intend to produce, before anyone contributes their resources or provides financial support.
