139 People Helped Raise Over $7,500 to Support Street Games!

Update #9 · Sep 16, 2012 · comment

THANK YOU SO MUCH to all 139 backers who pledged their support for Come Out & Play San Francisco's fabulous 2012 game designers! Because we are a community event first and foremost, it's really wonderful that so many people pulled together like this to help us meet our goal!

No more nagging from us to increase your pledge or spread the word about our campaign. All we want from you now is for you and your friends & family to join us at the exhibition and festival for a good time!! Come play all the games supported by this campaign during the Exhibition (Nov 17-Dec 8) and the Festival (Dec 1-2).

As they're available, details will be announced via Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/COaPGames), twitter (@comeoutandplay), our website (http://www.comeoutandplaysf.org), and SOMArts' (http://www.somarts.org/). We always need volunteers to help run the event, so keep an eye out for our volunteer request form in the next few weeks if you'd like to be even more involved beyond your (awesome!) financial contributions. Many past volunteers are now part of the organizing group and/or run games.

We'll be following up with everyone in the coming weeks to get your information for the rewards. Most important is to look for a good full-body photograph of yourself for our Robot attack graphic!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FROM EVERYONE AT COME OUT & PLAY TO OUR AMAZING BACKERS:

We did it! $900 in 17 hours to make it to $8400?

Update #8 · Sep 15, 2012 · comment

Thanks so much everyone for helping us meet our goal!

With these final hours, let's try for a final pledge surge. Because of the fees that Kickstarter and Amazon take (5% each), we'll only get $6782 of the $7536 we've raised. In fact, we'll probably really only have about $6000 to work with since we need to spend $ on making and shipping some of the rewards.

If we can get our campaign backing up to $8400, we'll have something more like $7000 to work with to support our designers.

Also, a final pledge surge will look cool. :)

Best Birthday/Bachelor/Bachelorette Party EVER?! YES!

Update #6 · Sep 11, 2012 · comment

For just $50 each, you and 19 of your friends can run around San Francisco in your own custom spy adventure game, ducking behind police cars, completing missions, and (of course!) shooting nerf guns. THIS IS JERICHO!

Jericho is an amazing way to celebrate a birthday, wedding, graduation, product launch, startup funding or promotion! Try to pool the money together with some friends to give your boss, employee, child, parent, sibling, friend, boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse a NIGHT TO REMEMBER.

Here are Ian and Sean, two Come Out & Play organizers, getting ready to play Jericho:

Here's Shannon, who runs Jericho (and helps run Come Out & Play!):

Catherine from Come Our & Play interviewed Shannon about the private game that he's offering as a reward for 2 lucky $1000 backers - listen and GET PSYCHED!!

WOW: 97 backers + **Magic donation number: $27**

Update #5 · Sep 10, 2012 · comment

TLDR: Magic donation increase/new pledge: $27. We have cool games planned and don't want to have to cut them!

=========

The good news: There are 97 people who want to support street game designers!!

The bad news: We still have a long way to go to hit our $7500 goal. If we don't get this money, some games may need to be cut, like the awesome Propinquity which was recently part of the Joue le jeu show in Paris.

With 97 backers, we're a LOT closer than we were on Friday! The average current donation is $50. If you could give just $27 more - or convince one friend to pledge $27 (or 2 friends to pledge $13.50 each) - we'd be all set! And every extra $ above $27 would be a bonus $ for our designers.

Be magical like SF Giants Hall-of-Famer Juan Marichel, #27

Here's what your donation gets you:

  • ALL - Invitation to the private WRAP PARTY on Sunday, December 2nd with festival designers, organizers, and volunteers
  • ALL - Listing/gratitude on our website as an esteemed kickstarter backer!
  • $25+ - Your image on the robot-attack graphic! The bigger the donation, the bigger your representation (tip: give $100+ to be recognizable).
  • $N - The listed reward based on your $N donation level (temporary tattoo, t-shirt, woodcut map, etc)
  • ALL - Pride in supporting an awesome San Francisco tradition and helping underwrite innovative new street games.

In other news, Ian and Catherine got together over the weekend to schedule the games for the exhibition, opening party, and festival. OMG it's going to be so awesome. A quick summary/highlights:
