"Lost in the City" is Ian Phillips' Master's Thesis Film at the CCNY (City College of New York) MFA program in Writing/Directing Fiction.
Written in 2010, This short film tells the story of James Jones, Jr., A doorman from Harlem who works in a building on the Upper West Side. After leaving his job, James befriends a young boy at a local basketball court who is trying to get it together before his team tryouts. Together, they develop a casual friendship until a subtle act proves their relationship may not have been as stable as it seems.
A film about two people at different stages of life trying to connect in a bleak urban landscape.
The film is cast, locations have been scouted and principal crew is in place; all that is missing now is the funding and then the film itself.
Money will be used for camera and other equipment rentals. Film will be shot on the new Cannon C300 Digital Cinema Camera by Director of Photography Alex Chinicci.
