DMLRR's Fringe hit, "The Brontes" lives on! We've got another chance to produce the show that the Washington Post called "SUBLIME!"

This past July, in Washington DC’s Capital Fringe Festival, Dizzy Miss Lizzie’s Roadside Revue produced its 4th original show The Brontes, a rock and roll retelling of the life and works of one of literature’s most famous families. It was a huge success:

Due to the support of our fans, friends and family, we were able to put together an amazing run of The Brontes this summer with an incredibly talented creative team, tech staff and cast. And now, we have the opportunity to bring the show back with a 12 show run in the fallFRINGE!

But we need a little help from you all to make this happen. What can your donations do to help us?

GETTING THE WORD OUT AND BUILDING AUDIENCE: including promo materials, advertising and marketing, all that is essential to growing our audience and moving us forward!

MATERIALS: including printing programs, scripts etc… even guitar strings, picks, batteries for mics, costume repairs, replacements and cleaning. Sadly, we’ve not been picked up by Fender for an endorsement. Yet.

SETS AND PROPS: We are incredibly excited to be bringing The Brontes to a new venue but it need a little dressing to help create that Dizzy Miss Lizzie vibe that our audiences love so much.

And last and MOST important, compensating our actors and tech staff… We are so very fortunate to have such talented artists working with us, who are willing to share their time and talents, even if we can only give them a small stipend.

In a time when politicians threaten to do away with funding for the arts, when millionaires and corporations are cutting donations to established arts organizations, it is up to wonderful people like you to keep the arts going and growing. Any amount does make a difference and we feel the love. Believe me, we make every penny count. We hope that one day we can bring you the Dizzy Miss Lizzie shows that you love without having to ask for your hard earned dollars and every show brings us closer to realizing that goal. If you can spare it, we are overjoyed and appreciative!

It really is an incredible experience for us to know that there are people like you out there who love our work and we do it for you. When you come to a Dizzy show, know that nothing on that stage, not one sexy, steam-punk inspired costume, not a single belted note or sweet guitar riff, would be there without your support.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

The risks and challenges to a theater company and its productions are enormous. There is always the potential for things to go wrong, from producers pulling out their funding to the actual theater space being shut down. The main challenge for Dizzy Miss Lizzie's Roadside Revue is always raising the funding to produce a project, and run it to its full potential at the same level of artistic professionalism our audience and fans expect. Without raising the funding we would not be able to pay for advertising (this helps us put people in the seats), to pay the actors (they work very hard for very little) and technical crew (they make the whole experience happen), or pay for the space that we rent to rehearse and perform in (this is probably the most expensive part). Even after raising the funding we are faced with the potential to not have the audience we had anticipated, and not recouping the money invested in the production. Advertising and getting our name out there is a huge challenge in this age of media saturation. We do everything we possibly can to make sure that our productions go on as scheduled, and are seen by as many people as possible. We have a proven track record, and great reviews to prove it. A successful production enables our company to survive and continue growing by producing future productions. We at Dizzy Miss Lizzie see these challenges and risks and knock them down everyday. We believe in what we are doing and the artistic potential in our company. We hope you do to and donate.
