"What it Means to be Human - The True Story of Eve" is an exciting science fiction novel. It needs editing and marketing.
My novel, "What it Means to be Human - The True Story of Eve" is already a finished manuscript, and a print version is already available for purchase on Amazon. However, I do not have the funds to get it professionally edited or marketed. I've done the best I can with grammar checking, but in its current form it cannot be marketed.
The book was looked at by professional reviewers, and it already shows progress. Here are some quotes from the professional Amazon Breakthrough Author reviews:
"There are two aspects of this excerpt that can form the basis of a good novel. The first is the original and intriguing premise; it's a variant on the Garden of Eden story that likely has never been seen before. The author seems to have good ideas about where to go with this premise as well."
"An interesting and very original premise promises a good story, and that, combined with an interesting lead character, combines to promise a potentially good novel. Unfortunately the writing, as it stands, interferes too much and spoils the effort. A good edit and some amount of rewriting could make this into an excellent work. I do hope the author takes the time to further polish this effort."
My goal is to make the book longer (by adding more chapters) and then get it professionally copy-edited twice. Then, after it is edited, the funds would also be used to pay for the marketing. I estimate that this process would take about a year to produce the finished product, though it could quite possibly be shorter, since the manuscript is done.
Novel Synopsis:
"Before the events of the Book of Genesis, humankind struggled for survival in deep space.
With active emotions and free thought, Eve was not like other humans, that were designed to serve the Gods without question. When her defective brain was discovered by the Nephilim, Eve was ordered to be recycled. Instead, she escaped into space, and joined others on a quest to gain freedom from those that saw them as broken merchandise. Their mission? Locate planet 55, a legendary world said to contain oxygen and fresh water.
Witness a fictional retelling of the events that took place before history itself, as mankind fights for survival against all odds."
Here is how the funds will be used and how I calculated everything:
1.) Extend the book and make it longer, another round of grammar checking by myself ($0)
2.) Comprehensive Copyediting Plus through Createspace (around $1,760 if 80,000 words)
3.) I make the changes the copy-editor suggested in step 2 ($0)
4.) Basic copy editing through Createspace (around $960 if 80,000 words)
5.) I make any changes requested by the copy-editor in step 5 ($0)
6.) Targeted distribution through Createspace: $598
7.) Any extra funds beyond the asking amount will be used for further marketing or copy-editing where required.
Note: I will likely give out more copies of the book as time and money allows.
