About this project

My name is John Barron and I'm a singer/songwriter.  I am producing a 12 song CD called The Greatest Commandment, which includes original inspirational songs that I wrote over the last few years.  My hope and prayer is to complete the album and have it released before the end of this year, 2012.

The songs on this album reflect my personal victories, by God's grace, from many years of struggling with the effects of crippling, painful and life threatening disease and physical disability.  I am diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Vasculitis and Heart Disease, and have experienced several surgeries and a few near-death crisis.   Despite extensive treatments, my health is slowly deteriorating, and it is increasingly difficult to use my hands, and even to sing.  Thanks to some gifted surgeons and God's healing hands I am still alive and able to produce music. My hope is to focus my remaining time on the earth as a songwriter. I hear a calling to convey the spiritual theme of God's love, hope and joy. 
      

The album will also include performances from my gifted musician friends as well as from the lovely and talented members of my family, including my wife Johanne  and daughter Natania on vocals, and daughter Llana on vocals and keyboard. The Barron Family has been featured on two previous albums; Confessions to the Thought Police, in 1998, and the Barron Family Musical Anthology, in 2007. I have produced three other albums and one single.


This musical project, The Greatest Commandment, is my most challenging to date;  time is of the essence, as my health is eroding. This may be my last music, but I am following the biblical wisdom in Proverbs,  3:5,6; “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.”

What We Need & What You Get
I am not signed to a record label, live on a fixed disability income and don't have the funds necessary to make this happen.  In order to get this exciting project accomplished, I will need to purchase at least 25 sessions, each at 3-4 hours of recording and mixing time. This is a revision downward because many of the songs are nearer to completion than when the first fundraiser was posted. Max Dearing, the engineer at the Dark Pines Studio, has graciously provided me with a reasonably priced, high tech equipment and a flexible time schedule. The studio and engineer are both top-shelf and located only about 10 miles from my home in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. This will allow me to produce the best quality music in the most convenient manner, especially in light of my marginal health and limited financial resources.
