THE FILM

Around the Corner introduces us to Daniel and Annie, a young couple very much in love and about to be married. When a tragic accident takes Daniel out of the picture we see how Annie copes in seemingly unexpected ways that when we think about it, maybe aren't that strange at all. 

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The setting for our film is the spectacular Monterey Peninsula and Carmel Valley. It is so exciting for us to be coming from Los Angeles and bringing this project to our home town where the artistic culture and supportive community has already been such a delight in our process. It is also a beautiful juxtaposition as a backdrop to such a fraught story. 

This film will bring several renowned local Peninsula actors and actresses together with the talented professional LA based crew we have gathered for this project and we can't wait for them to meet! 

We plan on using the Kickstarter funds to pay for ALL of the film's expenses including equipment rentals, on-set meals, and submission fees for festivals. (We want to play at as many prestigious festivals as we can and the fees add up)! Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated! 

MEET THE FILMMAKERS 

Alix Angelis - Writer, Actress

Alix Angelis has been creating and acting in theatre for several years having achieved a Drama BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Experimental Theatre Wing. Her works include two one-woman show's, and several collaborations with Not Man Apart Physical Theatre Ensemble whose Artistic Director John Farmanesh-Bocca will be directing Around the Corner.  She has also appeared on television and in various short and feature films in the past few years while based in New Orleans and Los Angeles.

 John Farmanesh-Bocca - Director

John trained at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts before serving as Directing Fellow at The Juilliard School’s Drama Division. He is an acclaimed actor and artistic director of the internationally hailed Not Man Apart Theatre Ensemble. He has incorporated film into his theatrical works which have been described as cinematic in scope and vision with a talent for marrying light hearted romance with extremes of tragedy and longing. http://www.jfbnyla.com

Vincent Cardinale - Producer, Actor

Vincent Cardinale is a graduate of the Central School of Speech and Drama (London) with a BA in circus arts, as well as the Performing Arts Conservatory of Carmel. Originally from Monterey, CA, he has performed at theatre and comedy festivals around the globe. Most recently he was the lead actor in the film 'Another Bullet Dodged' which is currently on the film festival circuit. It has already been screened at AFI and SXSW, and will be coming to the Los Angeles Film Festival in June.

Amanda Treyz  -Director of Photography

Amanda has always had a passion for making images. She was born and raised in New York City and grew up immersed in all the visual art the city has to offer. She studied at Brown for her undergraduate degree, then came to Los Angeles in 2002 to pursue filmmaking. She attened LA Film School, earning a Women in Film scholarship. After graduating, she honed her lighting skills for six years working mostly as a Gaffer. In 2006 she dedicated herself exclusively to Cinematography by going back to school at AFI. While there, she was awarded the Bennet Scholarship and a Fotokem Grant. Since graduating she’s photographed six feature fims, numerous shorts and music videos. She’s also received a 2008 ASC Heritage award, and won Best Cinematography at the Big Bear Film Festival. http://supertreyz.com
