About this project
The iPad has changed the way we interact with the internet, but what about those of us who create the internet? There is a sizable hole in the iPad experience for those of us who design and develop the sites we all view on the iPad everyday.
On April 12th I released a small screenshot of a hobby project that I was working on, a text editor for the iPad. Within hours it had exploded on Twitter, had garnered 10k+ views and resulted in an email exchange with Macworld.
Codenamed Devpad, this app will be a straightforward text editor suitable for development of web technologies. You could use it for non web languages like c++, c and java but building would be out of the question.
The first release will include svn and git bindings so you can check out, edit and re-commit code, all from your iPad. Development will start on September 8th and run for 6 months. There will be regular updates and communication with our backers.
We would love to finish the first release off in the next 6 months and bring it to market but without some help from you, that won't happen. If we reach our goal, work will proceed full time on the app for the next 6 months creating a beautiful, useful addition to the iPad ecosystem.
Thanks!
