Potential is a modern tragedy which follows college student, Ian Westbrook, who becomes obsessed with developing psychic abilities.

The Story

Potential is a ten part comic mini-series following the tragic hero, Ian Westbrook and his obsession with developing psychic abilities. Ian is a brilliant young college student whose brain is just too bored with anything less than the super natural. He believes that with the right mental exercise anyone can develop psychic powers, but little does everyone else on the planet know: He's right!

The Kick-Start

Making a comic book is like any creative work. It takes time, money, and a lot of patience. I'm doing what I can creatively, but in the end I can only do so much by myself. And a creative team always makes for a better over all product in the end anyhow!  All the funding goes to several aspects of the comic book making and will pay for:

  • My Inker, Ryan. Ryan is a friend from college with tons of skill. He normally likes to ink plants and tiny little pine cones with his micron pens, but I've persuaded him away from his pokemon cross stitches for a while to make my pencils pop.
  • A Letterer, who understands art in comics. Speech bubbles aren't as simple a practice as you would think! It takes skill and a good eye to figure out where and how to place those little buggers.
  • My Writer, James. James is a masochist, for sure, but we have ironed out a great script so far and I need to offer him a little incentive to persuade him away from his brutal work schedule long enough to finish this thing!
  • Advertising and events! I will be attending Wizard World Philadelphia in artist's alley to get some attention for Potential, and I will be bringing along some nice little products for all you soon-to-be-fans. I'll also include costs of mailing out submissions and rewards in this category. And of course there is that 5% fee from Kickstarter and Amazon.

This kickstarter project will fund the completion of the first issue, with excess funds going right back into the rest of the series. In my fantasy world, in which we reach way past our already high goal, extra funds will make it possible to self publish Potential, which would be awesome!

Once Kick-Started...

With your help, we can create a complete ten part original comic book that will blow your freaking mind! Seriously. This story is a re-imaging of the super hero origin story, a modern take on a tragic hero, and it's wholly original and entirely awesome. Once the first Issue is finished, we will begin on Issue 2 while we wait on responses from our submissions to various publishers. Or,  as I mentioned earlier, over-funding from you way awesome backers will be put towards self-publishing.

Thanks!

Check out those sweet rewards over there to the right. Aren't they tempting, nay, irresistible??? Any pledge will help me live the dream of creating my own comic book and breaking into the industry forever, and this is only the beginning.  Once you've read and thoroughly enjoyed Potential, know that my next project isn't far behind. With my head full of ideas and a great team to back me up, this is only the first of many projects that you will see from Andrew Taylor. Thank you for all your help, and I promise to make it amazing!

FAQ

  • No. The two $20 reward levels are meant to be separate options, the $30 reward level, however, does include both $20 rewards (making the $30 package pretty darn sweet). The digital subscription pack was added as a reward after launching the project, hence the oversight on my part. Sorry for the confusion!
