About this project
We are going to send 200 DVD copies of this award-winning recovery film to public detox centers, shelters, juvenile and adult prisons, facilities and jails, across North America.
We ask for your help to get this film to the people who need to see it the most. We request your donations to offset manufacturing, processing and shipping expenses.
We made this film to help the suffering alcoholic or drug addict who must wait in line to find a bed in a county funded detox or similar facility.
"Real Sobriety" was created and self-financed by recovering alcoholic and drug addict, Robert McClellan, as a tool to inspire others to achieve successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. "Real Sobriety" introduces viewers to an eclectic group of former addicts and alcoholics who discuss their individual paths to recovery, from sober bikers to heroin-addicted ballerinas, the film features real people speaking the plain language of recovery. Insightful, raw, and emotional, each person reveals their soul’s transformation from desolation and despair to lives of fulfillment and hope. Hardly a “Polyanna” story, this documentary does not candy coat the journey, instead there is frank talk of withdrawal, relapse, and the importance of counseling and continuing support.
This powerful film has had a positive and healing affect on people who seek a new, clean and sober way of life.

Robert McClellan:
With a background that includes live music production and military combat photography, Robert McClellan has been in the creative trenches for most of his adult life. Somewhere along the line, he became a cocaine-addicted, alcoholic drug dealer. Once again, in the trenches. After numerous attempts to get clean and sober, he succeeded, and with almost 20 years of in recovery, Robert put together the Real Sobriety project, featuring remarkable people sharing their intimate journeys from the darkness of addiction to the light of happy recovery. Jill Heinerth:
An explorer and adventure based film maker, Jill Heinerth has written, produced, and appeared in award-winning films by National Geographic, Discovery, PBS and others. Considered one of the top technical divers in the world, she is a living legend in the Scuba diving community and an inaugural inductee to the Women Divers Hall of Fame.
