Brief encounters happen for a reason. FRESH MEET takes a hilarious look at the brushes and collisions people have everyday.
We wanted to create a showcase for actors, playwrights, and other theatre artists to showcase their talent. After much discussion, FRESH MEET was created.
Fresh Meet is a collection of comic scenes, featuring six actors playing twenty-four different characters. The scenes travel through time and space, venturing from a typical American office building, to 1950s New York, to heaven, and beyond. The script is a collaborative project, with scenes written by Rebecca McCauley, Rodney Brazil, Lisa Lasky, Robert Matson, Holly McNatt, and Pete Young. All of Fresh Meet’s co-writers have strong Oklahoma ties, with 4 out of 6 currently living right here in the metro. Local actors performing the work of local writers, for the entertainment of local audiences. What could be better?
Next Stage was recently organized by local artists Rebecca McCauley, Todd Clark, and Rodney Brazil. Next Stage was born out of the local need for a development outlet for new plays. “We have pulled together a team of writers and theatre artists to collaborate on taking scripts through the necessary stages to help each project reach its maximum potential. Each project goes through a series of readings, workshops and revisions to create the best production. Since this is Next Stage’s first production, we decided to invite local writers to collaborate on a piece that would jump-start the group’s mission. We’re looking forward to debuting this original, funny, offbeat collection.” says Brazil.
The cast of Fresh Meet features Dana Hanley, Holly McNatt, Rebecca McCauley, Sean Eckart, Rick Foresee and Brett Young. The show is directed by Rodney Brazil. Performances are February 10, 11, 17 & 18 at The Boom, 2218 NW 39th St. in Oklahoma City.
