8 Months and Counting all of our Successes, Thank You

Update #23 · May 21, 2013 · comment

It is so hard to believe it's been 8 months since we opened. We are so happy with our little shop here in Dayton.

We have all kinds of new fabrics from whole sellers that only supply to independent companies.

We are working on having open sews at our shop. We ordered cool modern green rolling chairs, now have a large cutting table, a serger and ironing boards available to the public for an hourly fee on Fridays and every other Saturday.

Lessons are still #1!!  We are so happy to be teaching Dayton to sew!

Thank you all again for making this all possible!

Sew Some Love

Update #22 · Feb 5, 2013 · 1 comment

Happy February!

Jesy and I have been so happy with all the success of Sew Dayton the 5 months we have been open.  Can you believe it? Five months already!  So many doors have opened for us!

What's new?

We ordered our biggest fabric order yet from another wholesale company Moda.

We are going to Ikea to buy our first new pieces of furniture. Shelving for all the new fabrics.

We had a drawing benefiting a program called Clothes that Work that helps women dress for successful interviews. Meg Thomas was our winner, she's pictured with the basket below.

Ian Bonnet also pictured below our neighbor from Record Gallery picks our artist of the month and talented artist Amy Kollar Anderson was chosen. We celebrated February's First Friday unveiling a new series of bags we stitched with her art and it was a huge success.

Classes have been great, we have no less than 2 private lessons a day.  We love teaching. We will be teaching Brownies, Girl Scouts, moms groups and craft/birthday parties this winter and spring.

Alterations and mending are still rolling in helping us to pay rent and we love that. Ten dollar Tuesday's are a hit, bring your skirts or unlined pants to have them hemmed for the sale price.  We also offer a discount for lined and cuffed pants on Tuesdays as well.

Also in the works a fashion show with Brim hats, a collaboration with Bernina on project for class machines and on an amazing new layout for our class space. We want to bring our town of Dayton's modern sewers to the next level.

Tracy

Open for Business!

Update #21 · Jan 11, 2013 · comment

Four months in and it's been great!

Our custom orders have slowed down. Although we are getting ready to be slammed with wedding season. We are using this time to make sure we have all the education and supplies to give the professional look to our customers that we want. We're still rocking alterations too.

Classes have really picked up and we are so happy to teach Dayton how to sew. We just love sewing so much. What's not to love, it's fun!

Thank you all again for being part of something that is fun and valuable to our community!

This cute pillow was a gift from Westlake Crafts!

Thank You,

Sew Dayton

Update #20 · Dec 31, 2012 · comment

Happy New Year and Thank you all again for your support, feedback and love!

It's hard to believe we made our video 4 months ago.

Jesy and I have been working night and day to make Sew Dayton a valuable shop in our community. We have had successful events such as Fabric Swap, Come Craft with Us and First Fridays.

We have found there is a huge demand in Dayton for sewing classes. We get calls everyday about classes we offer. All this could not have happened without your support.

Prizes!

Update #19 · Dec 6, 2012 · comment

Hopefully by now you are all starting to receive your prizes in the mail.  Please let us know if you didn't get it or if there is any issue.

We placed our order with Riley Blake fabrics and they should be here tomorrow! Right in time for first Friday, we are so excited. Because of your help, in 3 months we have been able to do a lot!

- 3 fabric orders

-2 Colette pattern orders

- Oliver + S order

- Ordered Repeat Customer Cards to show love to those who come to shop!

- Almost need to reorder business cards (only have about 250 out of 1000 left!!!)

- Ordered Wholesale Cute Zippers

- almost went through 1000 tags for pricing

We are so elated with the successes of Sew Dayton! We have recurring private lessons every week, we are getting our classes filled up and creating new ones depending on what the community has asked for!

The Holiday season is here so along with our custom orders, hemming for $10 Tuesday (which has been a total hit with Dayton) and basic daily tasks, Tracy and I (Jesy) have been creating ready made items for shoppers to come in and walk out with!  We are loving the support from everyone and it helps drive us to do better, faster and more customer focused every day.

Thank you so much again and we both hope you have a beautiful holiday with your family and friends!
