Converting thousands of analogue photographs to digital for exhibition of 2000+12 photographs at the Freies Museum, Berlin, Germany in November 15 - 30, 2012

I was born in New York City in 1939. I started taking photographs in 1949 & won a prize at the local library. I have been doing experimental and art photography ever since. (The project title photo of the two girls was taken in 1959 in Holland). I estimate that I have about 40,000 photographs, analog until 2004, digital thereafter.
For 2012 I am preparing an exhibition entitled "2000 + 12 Photographs".
I have, now, 8 large framed photographs. I plan to exhibit these and 4 more – if I receive funding. I will also project 2000 photographs, (using three projectors), to reach the total 2000+12.
I have close to 12,000 analog photo negatives for which I have postcard size prints. With a negative film scanner and an assistant we can quickly find and digitalize the best. There are also circa 1600 slides which we can judge directly and scan. I estimate that the hours for an assistant for the selection of circa 1800 pictures and then the digital scanning will cost $2700 (ca. $1.50/picture). (I already have hundreds of digital photos ready for projection).
The use of a high quality negative scanner will cost about $250. Enlarging four digital photos will require circa $1200 & framing these circa $2100. 
Transport of the large framed photographs to and from the exhibition site: $120
The 2000 photographs will be transfered onto three DVDs and projected on three digital projectors. Two digital projector will be supplied by the museum, and the rental of one additional will cost $350.

The Freies Museum has just informed me that their costs for the exhibition as such require that I cover $1225 of their expenses.
