Update #23: Slow Boat is Slow
Approximately five weeks ago, I got notice that two pallets full of Ghost Pirates was crossing the ocean. Expected travel time was "a month." Now that five weeks have passed, I have a more firm date on the final arrival times. We're looking at the shipment arriving at the warehouse in New Hampshire on June 4, and my hope is that everything turns around and is back out the door within that week.
On the separate topic of promo cards. I need artists! Point me to your favorites. Point your friends my way! If you're an artist and you want to be paid to draw pirates, point me to you!
And once again, thank you all for your patience. I had no real idea how long this was going to take. It's been nearly six months since the campaign concluded and we'll definitely pass that mark by the time all the rewards are shipped out.
Update #22: A Date with A Boat
As I finish up my final preparations for PAX East, Evil Hat demo duties, and the Kickstarter Arcade, I wanted to let you in on the latest news that has peaked today.
I finally have a ship date for the pallets! They will be making their way from the factory on April 15th and taking the a sea voyage before they arrive here and make their way to a certain warehouse. This distributor will be handling nationwide distribution of Ghost Pirates, so if you or your friends missed out on the kickstarter, you'll soon be able to order it from your local FLGS. Everyone has been very patient with this endeavor so far, and I'm thrilled to say that it's nearly complete!
Jumping back to the topic of PAX, Ghost Pirates is a featured part of the Kickstarter Arcade. I'll be running a demo there on Friday from 5-6pm, and giving a talk on Cross Media Game Development on Sunday from 2-3pm. Come say hi, and check out all of the other awesome games and talks that are going on!
I also mentioned demo duties. I'm running demos of three different Evil Hat Games over the weekend, starting with a Dresden Files RPG demo on Friday 11am-2pm, then a Spirit of the Century demo on Saturday from 1-3pm, and a Don't Rest Your Head demo on Sunday from 3-6pm.

Update #21: Ghost Pirates Proofs have arrived!
So it's been a month or so since I last updated due to slow processes and some UPS snafus. But now, I am pleased to bring back news from the printing front. Without further ado....
TADA!
Some small details will change here: rounded corners, and a bar code on the package, which should get help Ghost Pirates into superior distribution besides my apartment.
The card graphics look fantastic. I'm really pleased with how they came out!
Another change you'll see is that the rulebook will be printed in color. I thought the black and white printing was okay, but especially considering that the paper is really quite decent, color printing will really make it awesome.
I'm super excited to get this into your hands. In the meantime, have you tried out the captain creator?
The scurvy pirate shown here is Joshua A.C. Newman, a Kickstarter Veteran whose current project is Mobile Frame Zero. If pirates aren't enough and you also need some robots, definitely check out his project.

Update #19: Captain Creator Beta
While you're rocking your print & play copies of the game, check out this beta of a Captain Creator web app. For best results, create your own portrait at 285 x 380 pixels and load it to an image sharing site. You can additionally use any photo from around the web as long as direct linking is permitted. Please remember that this is beta software and may not work as advertised. And if you do find any problems, please let me know so that I can fix them.

For 2010, I made the resolution to contribute awesomeness to the world -- patronage of projects that are worthwhile, seems to me to be a solid step towards this infinite goal.
Yep, after seven years of publishing games, I can attest to the fact that most Chinese printers tell you what you want to hear, not necessarily the truth. Still, what are you going to do? Both quality and price are better overseas.
I know a guy who draws a mean (as in awesome) pirate. I'm gonna pester him about this. :)
