It's not over yet!

Update #7 · Sep 23, 2010 · comment

A very special thanks to all our backers. Your pledges are greatly appreciated. Thanks for having belief in both me and my project. Unfortunately, the drive was unsuccessful and you were not charged. Kickstarter is all or nothing fund raising. If you don't meet your goal, you receive nothing. However, I'm not giving up.

I've relaunched the project with a lower goal. The new goal is $3200. It is possible to surpass that and still get close to our original goal of $4000. This drive will run for only 30 days, will end on October 23 @ 3:28pm and will be the last attempt via Kickstarter. You can find the new project page here http://kck.st/aw8FH5. It won't be visible in any of the Kickstarter lists until we get our first backer.

Once again the pledge you made previously was not charged. If you still believe in this project and would like to see it made, you are more than welcome to pledge again. That is of course totally up to you. My heartfelt thanks again for your original pledge. Hopefully, this time around we'll make it.

Sincerely,
PJ Baio

Zero Hour Approaches!

Update #6 · Sep 22, 2010 · comment

As zero hour approaches and there is still a very long way to go, I wanted to share with all interested parties a horror short I produced, directed, co-wrote, shot and edited 2 years ago for under $600. It's called Hell Mary and was inspired by the urban legend of Bloody Mary. It is a dark horror comedy and an homage to cheesey horro films of the 80's.

It was a two day shoot, 15 hours each day due to the availability of the location. My original intent for the shoot was to only direct. The day before the shoot I lost my DP and my gaffer who volunteered their time, but were offered and excepted paying jobs that conflicted with the Hell Mary shoot schedule. I had to step in and wear many hats during the course of those two days. It was a challenge, trying and a test of patience. My passion and drive kept me going and got me through it. It was a rewarding experieince.

In the case of Sticky Wicket, I have locations set with less time constrictions. I have crew in place with back ups as well. I have scheduled a 24 day shoot based on the availability of the crew and actors. I anticipate everything will go smoothly.

My Heartfelt thanks to all who have pledged and backed the project so far. For those of you just discovering or revisiting this project to decide if you want to pledge or not, please understand that this project will only get up and running if we meet our $4000 goal. Our time is up tomorrow at noon eastern time. Kickstarter is all or nothing. If we don't meet our goal, the backers are not charged and the project receives nothing. Anything from one dollar or more makes a difference. $2318 is what we need to meet that goal. Once again, Thank you for your kind attention.

Less than 48 hours to go.

Update #5 · Sep 21, 2010 · comment

Although I had no expectations, I honestly thought I'd be at least at 80% by now. A lot of hard work was put into spreading the word in the last 45 days. Juggling between the fund raising aspect, making changes to the script and balancing the usual business of my everyday life has not been easy. I wonder now if perhaps I didn't focus enough of my attention to Kickstarter. I truly wish I had the time to have made it my priority 24/7.

I'm ready to go on this project. There are people involved waiting to hear the word "go", so we can get rolling. I know a lot can happen in the next couple of days and I haven't given up hope yet. The last 18 months I labored over ideas to find the one that could be easily shot with a micro-budget and tell a meaningful and funny story.

I'm not exactly sure what people look for in a project on kickstarter when deciding to back it or not. What I have to offer is my passion, drive and my love for filmmaking. I co-wrote a script I believe in and have attracted the interest of many talented people who are willing to donate their time and skill to this project, because they also believe in it.

$2,358 is a long way to go in the hours that remain. That's roughly $50 in pledges an hour. If this project appeals to you, please pledge. If you can't please spread the word. Everything is greatly appreciated.

A note to my current backers: I realize that when I post these updates that you are receiving them in Email form. Please be aware that I am not asking you to pledge more than you already graciously have. I'm reaching out to the people who are now just discovering the project.

Thank you all!

72 Hours...

Update #4 · Sep 19, 2010 · comment

What if I told you that making this film could cure world hunger and end wars? I'd be lying. However, it can open doors, induce emotion, laughter , entertain and provoke thought. 3 days, 72 hours left. 2,358 to go. All or nothing. If we don't reach our goal, we get zero and our backers aren't charged. Pledging as little as $1 makes a difference. If 2,358 people pledg $1 in the next 3 days or 1,179 pledge $2, 472 people pledge $5, etc. You get it.

Time is running out quickly. If you can't pledge, sharing this link helps greatly. Thank you so much!
