WHO WE ARE:
ABOUT THE STORY/PROJECT:
Society has collapsed, and now thirteen-year-old Gabe and his family are struggling to adjust to a new life sequestered in their summer cabin. As time passes, radio reports -- the family's only connection with the outside world -- are becoming increasingly scarce. Gabe's father knows he must teach his son how to adapt to their new world if the family is to survive life in the woods. As food and supplies dwindle, however, the family soon realizes what truly awaits them in the outside world.
This is an emotional and evocative portrait of a family’s world turned completely upside down.
WHY THIS PROJECT:
We knew from the beginning that we wanted to tell a compelling dramatic story, one that was both dynamic and entertaining. The idea of a “forced adulthood” came to surface and after many brainstorming sessions, we found a story and an environment that reflects this.
With such a public fixation on the apocalypse in the past few years, we wanted the script to harness the fears and fascinations that people have. At the same time, we didn’t want this world’s apocalypse to undermine our main characters. We decided to use it only as the catalyst and the backdrop for the family’s main conflict.
We are more than confident in our skills as filmmakers, dedicated to making a quality experience for audiences. Unfortunately, as confident as we are we know that money is an invaluable asset that will help us unlock the potential in this project.
We have figured out the maximum costs of this production and have worked hard to whittle it down to an ideal cost that is affordable but still realistic to make our vision of the highest quality. We’ve seen great things from this site and are looking forward to making our own stamp in the Kickstarter community. Please help us by donating and sharing our project with as many people as you can via this Kickstarter link:
Every dollar raised will help in the costs of all equipment, animal handling, our cabin location, food, and special effects.
Upon meeting our funding goal, we are set to move into principal photography late August-September outside Los Angeles. From there, all post-production will be handled throughout the fall and early winter. Our finished film will then premiere late winter, with prepared submissions to domestic and international film festivals in the spring.
