Update #15: How Far We Have Come
There are times when things come together to remind you of how blessed and lucky you are. This is one of those times.
Right now, people are sitting down to watch the film in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Tonight, people in Knoxville, Tennessee will see the film. Currently, we are working on the Spanish sub-titles that will be used for a screening in Buenos Aires, Argentina next week.
This is amazing to us. The film has screened in over two dozen locations all around the world and many more screenings are planned.
Although we still have a massive amount of work still left for the DVD and digital release, we want to take this moment to thank you for your support and patience in the process of making the film. We will have some exciting announcements and an updated release schedule to share with you in a few weeks.
It is an honor to be on this crazy journey with you.
All the best,
Doug, Jess and Brandon

Update #14: Screenings and More
Keeping Busy
In addition to the hard work booking screenings all over the world, we are busy transcribing the film for translation and subtitling in other languages. We are also going through all of our footage for bonus features for the DVD.
As we have said many times before, thank you for your interest and support of our film. We have loved meeting all of you Kickstarter backers out on the road.

Update #13: Update from the Screening Tour

Dear Kickstarter backers, the image above would not have happened without your support. THANK YOU for your belief in the film before anyone else.
NYC World Premiere
It has been a busy few weeks since the world premiere of the film in New York City! The film has screened in six different cities to sold out crowds and an enthusiastic response. The world premiere at the SVA Theatre went fantastically well. There were 400 people in attendance and the Q&A moderated by Steven Heller was great. We had people travel from as far away as Ohio, Florida, and Missouri to see the film.
In the coming months, the film will be screened all over the world. Hopefully, it will come to a city near you. For those who live where the film will not screen, DVDs will be released in the early summer. And because you believed in the film before anyone else, Kickstarter backers will be the first to receive the DVDs when they are released!
Update #12: Major Film Update
We have a great deal of exciting news to share with you.
FINAL EDIT COMPLETE
After months of countless hours of editing, the final edit of the film is complete! We have sent the edit to be color corrected and the audio to be mastered. This final process will ensure that the film looks consistent and polished throughout.
We feel confident that the film is what we had set out to accomplish and we can't wait to show it to you. We have said it before and we will say it again: this film would not exist without Kickstarter.
WORLD PREMIERE & SCREENINGS
Our world premiere of the film will be February 3rd at the SVA Theatre in New York City. A few days later, the film will screen in Boston and other east coast cities. Tickets are on sale now on our website and more will be added very soon.
After the east coast dates, there will be screenings on west coast in February - dates and locations will be announced soon. Don't worry Midwesterners, we haven't forgotten about you. The Midwest premiere will be late February in our home town, Springfield, Missouri.
Many screenings are in the works including the UK and Europe. Watch our website for new locations and dates.
NEW TRAILER
As you can see above, we have released our official trailer for the film! We hope you enjoy.
FILM RELEASE
Screenings of the film will be scheduled all throughout the spring of 2012. We do not have an official film release date yet, but it will most likely be early summer. We know that this will keep you waiting longer than you had hoped, but we promise it will be worth the wait. All Kickstarter backers will receive their DVD or download before they are available to the public.
WEBSITE REVISIONS
We added a resources page to our website that will be a site for information about the Linotype. We hope this will become a hub for Linotype information in the future. We also launched a new shop and to celebrate, you can use discount code "Mergenthaler" for 30% everything in the shop this week.
We thank you so much for your support and excitement for the film. We hope to see you out on the road. If you are a backer and come to one of the screenings, please introduce yourself - we would love to shake your hand.
All the best,
Doug, Brandon & Jess

Update #11: All News is Good News
No News is Good News
Slowly but surely we are bringing footage, music and graphics together to make the film. Editing is a long and difficult process similar to putting together a 1,000 piece puzzle without knowing what the final picture looks like. It takes patience and dedication to tell the story correctly.
World Premiere
We are very excited to announce that the world premiere of the film will be February 3, 2012 in New York City. This will start a screening tour that will span across the United States and into other parts of the world. Additional screening dates and locations and will be announced soon.
(The photo below is a shot of what the film looks like in Final Cut Pro. It's is pretty boring looking at the moment, but we promise it will look great once we are finished!)

The director, Doug Wilson comes to the film from a background of graphic design and letterpress printing. Born and raised in the Midwest, he has travel in his blood and has visited five continents.
His passion for the Linotype began seven years ago when he saw a Model 5 Linotype in action. He was instantly hooked and is now working on the film full-time. Along for this crazy journey are two of his good friends, Jess Heugel and Brandon Goodwin.
