About this project
WHO WE ARE:
10,000 TONS OF BLACK INK was launched in 2007 by Literary Writers Network and has quickly become a respected voice in the Chicago literary scene. In 2009 it was re-envisioned as an online publication with global reach, including a "Best of" print edition featuring the strongest pieces published online.
We are committed not only to showcasing writers, but also to helping them. Submissions not accepted for publication receive a note explaining our decision, along with comments from our reading panel. This feedback gives writers insight into our editorial decisions, and hopefully helps them shape their future submissions.
Accepted stories are published on the website (10ktobi.org) and immediately put into consideration for the "Best of" print edition. Accepted work receives an Editor's Note highlighting aspects of the piece that drew us to it. Authors of accepted pieces are then encouraged to read other stories on the site, and choose one or more that they find particularly engaging to provide commentary on. In this way, we promote dialogue and growth between writers and throughout the writing community.

All funds go to the design and printing of our “Best of” print edition.

10,000 TONS OF BLACK INK is a subsidiary of the Literary Writers Network (LWN), dedicated to literary excellence through the advancement of emerging writers. LWN provides opportunities to develop and refine their artistry by offering a bimonthly writing group, a reading series and a vibrant Facebook community in addition to publication of 10,000 TONS OF BLACK INK.
