Update #8: Press conference to roll out our ads on Wednesday
Update #7: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
Our Kickstarter project will be ending in a few minutes and we will not be reaching our goal. Thank you so much if you have pledged. Any pledges made will not be billed to your credit cards.
But our fight is not over!
After some discussion, we have decided that rather than start another Kickstarter project with a lower goal, we are going to go back to our earlier method of raising funds -- by having you sign up as a micro-producer on our website at filmcreditswork.com (rickswrong.com). We will reduce our ad buy based on how much money we raise, but we learned a few things and know where to better target our first ads.
So, STARTING TOMORROW AFTERNOON, if you have pledged to this project, we are asking that you go to our website and donate the amount you have pledged here (or a different amount if you like) using a "Donate" button that will appear on every page. There will be a form to fill out on the "Become a Micro-Producer" page where you can give us your information. THIS WILL NOT BE SET UP UNTIL WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, APRIL 20, SO PLEASE WAIT UNTIL THEN.
And, remember, what you have pledged here at Kickstarter will never be charged to your card, so you will not be charged twice.
We did learn a lot during this process and got some great information during our webathon on Sunday, especially from State Rep Ellen Cogen-Lipton who thinks we can turn this around. We only have to flip four representatives on the full appropriations committee, which is very doable. We will be posting more information on our site. The chair of that committee, Republican Chuck Moss is from Oakland County and is very close to Brooks Patterson, who fully supports the incentives. In a reduced ad buy, we will target Oakland County and Lansing.
To watch the video, especially the interview with Rep. Cogen-Lipton, go to Ustream.tv. Her interview starts in segment 8 and ends in segment 10.
We also got some great coverage in the media about our webathon. It's all posted at our Facebook page and here's a YouTube clip of the TV coverage.
We're going to keep going at this until it's over and we still need your help to spread the word so we can get at least a reduced ad buy up on the air quickly.
With your pledges, assuming you donate the same amount through our site, and what we raised prior to the Kickstarter campaign, we will have about $15,000 to start with, but we still would love to do the full ad buy. We can do it in phases, so we'll get started quickly, which is why we need those donations to come in as soon as possible.
Thanks again for all your support. We will be sending this information out to our full lists tomorrow, but wanted our backers to be the first to know our next steps.
Nancy and Sharon
Update #6: We're up over $10,000 now
Let's keep this going, folks. Spread the word. A pledge from Scott G. Sanders just put us up over $10,000. Between today and the telethon on Sunday, let's see how close we can get to our final goal.
Thanks, Scott!

Update #5: $500 pledge received yesterday...
...from Homewood Suites by Hilton Detroit Troy. Robert McCullough, the director of sales, came to our studio and recorded a video for us. You can view it here.
They lost $124,000 when a new movie project pulled out of the state because of the potential loss of the incentives. There are more and more stories like this everyday. That's why it's so important to get the rest of our project funded -- we need to tell these stories more broadly, which can only be done with TV spots. Please implore your networks to pledge!
Thanks,
Nancy and Sharon
Update #4: We have received our first two $2500 matches
Our $2500 matches from both EXXODUS Pictures and Gilbert Films have now been received, which puts us up over $8,000 toward our goal.
Please keep spreading the word -- we have two weeks left!
We attended a town hall about the film incentives at CMNtv in Troy last night and the video is posted at rickswrong.com. Watch at 21:28 when I talk about the stories we've received from so many people.
We can do this -- let's keep it going.
