5 local LA artists will donate a one of a kind artwork based on a random idea from the inventory or one created by the pledge recipient.  Participating artists with mediums and websites will be on the Idea Truck blog.  $500 value.  This is limited to 5 pledges so get 'em while they're still there!

Anyone who pledges $25 today will get one signed and mounted 8 x 10 print of any photo from my website (www.lorrideyer.com) or from the FIRESALE FOLDER I’ve created on Idea Truck’s facebook group page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ideatruck/?ap=1).

Pledge $40 and get two prints. This is in addition to the reward levels you choose.

WHAT IS IDEA TRUCK?

Imagine craving carnitas and going up to a taco truck but the only thing on the menu is ideas.  You see A Dime a Dozen Ideas or Ideas with Color or Seriously Bad Ideas…and to buy that idea, you have to pay with your own idea.  No money, just write an idea. 

The plan is to drive Idea Truck around LA for 6 months and reach out to unsuspecting pedestrians.  Sit at plastic tables and chairs and feast on ideas, like: space ships should be purple elephants with rockets for feet (one idea already donated to the inventory).  Why do they have to be aerodynamic anyway, there’s no air in space?  Disagree?  Want to elaborate?  Then contact the idea maker directly from the email he or she leaves behind.  And on that note—what is an idea?  Are they a dime a dozen or are they a unique stamp of who you are?  Is an idea enough in this consumer-driven object making world?

So if you wait in line for a Half-Baked Idea but order up Tuesday’s Surprise Special To Go instead, it’s going to be a doozy of an idea just like the Idea Truck.  Half price for reciting your idea out loud...we might even ring the bell.

WHY SUPPORT IDEA TRUCK?

You want to watch livestream of someone coming up to Idea Truck to get their greasy cravings satisfied but finding ideas instead.

You want to surprise yourself with your own ingenuity or find out about someone else’s. 

You want to make a friend, share a thought, laugh at an ignoramus, use your noggin. 

You want to find this wandering venue on Freaky Fridays to get 5 ideas for the price of 1, perhaps mish mashed all together.  Who know, a cure for cancer might come of it.

You want to have a hand-written idea, in all its scribbly brilliance, hanging on the wall at your cocktail party so you can tell what Idea Truck is all about.  (Or know your idea would be hanging on someone else’s wall).

You want to be on the inside…the livestream, Twitter updates on locations, idea postings that are too good not to share, and even voting online for things like Idea of the Week.  And there’ll be an art book compilation at the end of the project--a custom-made collection of every groovy idea plus tales from the road, photographs of Idea Truck participants and settings, philosophical meanderings, and probably a written story or two.

But it goes beyond that.  You believe in putting forth a notion, that anyone can have a brilliant idea or a bad idea and that they’re both wonderful.  You believe that artists and academics are not the only ones with great ideas, that people everywhere have ideas worthy of consideration and wonder, that it’s our natural inclination to think, to think brilliantly, to think in purple.  And you believe sharing ideas is an opportunity to learn and laugh and enlarge our potential as humans and neighbors.  And you know, Kickstarter was once an idea too. 

WHERE YOUR MONEY IS GOING

The $7,700 goal is the minimum to start the project but Idea Truck will require: purchasing, repairs and retrofitting a used truck, insurance, gas and maintenance, parking, documentation, publicity—the largest expense being the truck.  I plan to foot half the bill myself and have lots of “ideas” on how to save and take my dumpster diving to new heights, but alas, the truck is going to cost me.

More funding = more Idea Truck

Any money above the goal allows Idea Truck to travel further and more often, publicize more so get more participants and ideas for the inventory, go beyond the initial 6 months, and even take the project elsewhere to see what and how “idea” is treated in another part of the country.  I could even take it to England, I might already have a right hand drive mail cart!

So if you believe in ideas and the power of sharing those, please show your support.
