Huge News From Houston!
I survived my first trip with Dennis (enjoyable trip highlights are outlined below)! We just returned from 2 days in Houston. Most importantly, we are so excited to announce that Midway Companies (www.midwaycompanies.com) & CITYCENTRE of Houston (www.citycentrehouston.com) will be sponsoring The Official Kickoff Preview Exhibition For Vanishing Cultures this April!! The photo below shows the office building and courtyard where the main exhibition will take place. Are you ready to see 30-FOOT PORTRAIT PRINTS and the real results of a 35-foot film camera?! More details and dates to come soon! The VC mission is JUST GETTING STARTED and we're so thrilled to give everyone a preview of what is ahead! There's still a long ways to go (AND WE REALLY NEED TO BUILD THE NEW BIG CAMERA)...so please continue to spread the word. This dream is getting closer to becoming reality! BELOW IS A LOOK AT WHAT IT'S LIKE TRAVELING WITH DENNIS.
Houston travel highlights with Dennis:
1) The drive to the airport (with Dennis at the wheel) was possibly the scariest car ride I've ever experienced.
2) Dennis packed two huge prints in a large black tube (see below). He enjoyed telling the airport check-in staff that it was actually his pet python...they didn't share his amusement.
3) The airport was busier than I've ever seen it at 5:00am. We had to sprint to our gate and barely made our flight. It was a good test of endurance for both of us.
4) We ate at two old-school diners with amazing food. The second was a BBQ joint where they stacked the wood they used outside the restaurant. For some reason Dennis saw a need to bring back a few of the logs to Chicago. The restaurant didn't mind, so he packed them in his black tube for the flight home.
5) The people of Houston are some of the nicest we've ever met...and Dennis fit in nicely. Lots of hugs and plenty of laughter the entire trip.
6) A very special thanks to LuQman, Shannon and the entire Midway Companies Team for being such amazing hosts and making us feel so welcome. We're anxious to continue working together for years to come!
