About this project
Don’t Hang Up On Me! is a performance weekend created by 3 independent performance artists who have come together in the midst of their cultural identity crises. Preaching the gospel of self-love, these two-spirited masters from another planet glamour the audience with fantastical wig-wearing, heart-bearing and ass-working. Audience members can count on a shower of glitter and kisses amidst some group therapy through dance pop ecstasy.
Yes, there is narrative. Yes, there is dance. Yes, there are music videos. There are no hidden costume changes. There are no breaks between numbers. There is no stopping spontaneous transformation or instantaneous combustion. The performance weekend, featuring Rocco Granite, Marissa Perel, and Anthony Romero will take place at Links Hall in Chicago, IL November 5-7.
Links Hall has been a home for independent and experimental performance in Chicago for 30 years. This trio of emerging artists will debut original work that defies the boundaries of dance, theater and drag performance in an attempt to bridge diverging performance communities within Chicago.
We are raising money to supplement the financial end of self-producing a weekend of work. With the support of the kickstarter community we hope to reduce our financial burden which will allow us to focus on the creation of art.

Rocco Granite emerged at Links Hall's 3030 in 2009 as an exploration of gender, sex, racial identity, celebrity, and appearance and has been driving audiences wild ever since.
Marissa Perel has been performing her 1980's childhood inspired Workout Girl for the past 2 years to international audiences. Inspired by the Jane Fonda Work Out and pop love ballads, Workout Girl lets it all hang out for Don't Hang up On Me!
From break-up blogs to exorcisms, Anthony Romero builds performance and video works that use a rotating cast of mystical beings to question the place of gender, sexuality and race in digital culture.
