Update #10: The last day of funding

Posted on September 30, 2010

I sit in the guest room of old family friends here in San Raphel outside of San Francisco. This weekend I attend the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park. Right now there is only 22 hours remaining in our funding. Thank you all so much for your contributions and ongoing support of BandHouse Gigs and our efforts to bring our friends and great music to various stages in the DC area. Raising this amount in funding will allow for us to make a beautifully produced, mixed, and mastered double disc to recap the best of both nights at Strathmore in August. Throughout the process of producing the album, I will continue to update the project page allowing all of our backers to have an inside look at what goes into these tributes and albums. Plus bakers will get to hear a few select tracks in the rough mix stage before the release of the album. Thank you all again for your support. If you want to up your contribution or get your friends to pre-order their copies, this is the last chance. Also, backers who pre-order will receive their copies before we put them on sale to the public. Get your copy.

Update #9: Multi Track Recordings

Posted on September 20, 2010

I spent my whole Sunday yesterday lining up the forty eight multi tracked recordings from the second night of the British Invasion. It was rather exciting. The performances were so much fun and every song got me siked to put together this record. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP. We're in the home stretch, with less then ten days to go, we need to make a final push. To anyone who has contributed thank you and please tell you friends to simply pre-order themselves a copy of this amazing record. I have plans to make it a double disc since there's soooo much music. A double disc worth of content for only $20or opt for the digital download for only $10. No time to waste, walk up your in-laws, buy copies for all the music lovers on your holiday list, and as always go see live music.
Here for your enjoyment and contributing encouragement is huge slideshow of all the pictures Bill Bronrott took Thursday night. The slideshow accompanied by Jon Carroll performing Time On My Side and then the rounding rendition of All You Need Is Love, led by Tom Lofgren and featuring the entire cast of the show. Please dig deep into your pockets and help us get this record made. Without your support these recording may never pass this phase. Thanks.

Update #7: Bouncing from the Board

Posted on August 24, 2010

So I'm bouncing tracks from the board mix from the British Invasion show on Wednesday night. It was a truly remarkable show and everyone involved worked so hard. Eric Brace and Last Train Home drove from Nashville the day of the show, Jon Carroll flew in from California the day before during the Mary Chapin tour, and there were many many folks who attended more then one of our nine pre-show rehearsals.
Today I am sharing a slideshow of photos from the Wednesday night production of the show taken by Linda Parker. All these pictures are available to view at www.bandhousegigs.com. To accompany the photos is our show open featuring the voice acting of Adam Moskowitz, Deborah Schwartz, David Sless, and Cal Everett. Then it seamlessly goes into the band on stage playing She Loves You. It was a great open and I'm so glad we went for it.
Lastly, we're down to 37 days before October and more then half of our goal must still be raised. Please dig deep and suggest this project and cause to your friends. Spread the good word about BandHouse Gigs and our efforts to showcase the best music DC has to offer. I'll keep working hard on my end and by the winter we'll all get a chance to relive the magic of the British Invasion Tribute. Thanks again.

Update #6: The British successfully invaded!

Posted on August 13, 2010

It's the morning after our two night British Invasion Tribute at Strathmore. The tribute was a resounding success again this year. Thank you to all the musicians and volunteers, but especially the public who came out and supported DC local music. We had a blast! The first views of the show surface from our good friend Mike Pugh at Goose Creek Music (www.goosecreekmusic.com). Take a look. If you like what you see or you were there and liked what you saw, please pre-order a copy of the record now for release this year. My hope is that with your support we can release a double disc to hold more of the fun. Some rough mixes are soon to come, so stay tuned and please become a backer.

Thanks,
Danny

Update #5: The Woodstock CDs arrive and only three days till the British Invasion

Posted on August 9, 2010

I am thrilled to say that the British Invasion Cds arrived just the other day. 1023 copies in all. I have been giving them out to our musicians all weekend and getting great great responses. Such a wonderful feeling to have made all my friends so happy. If you were at the original festival and/or made it out to our show last year, I hope this CD helps you re experience the magic of that night. I had a lot of fun mixing it with Stuart Martin out at Stonebridge Music in Leesburg. Here is the beautiful artwork that graced the cover from Dick Bangham, ripbang.com and the wonderful performance of Suite: Judy Blue Eyes performed by Eddie From Ohio at the Woodstock tribute. Also I included a couple of my favorite shots from the night to accompany the music. Enjoy and please join our project and support the next CD and in turn the local DC music scene.

Thank you,
Danny Schwartz
BandHouse Gigs Producer

P.S. British Invasion tickets are still on sale at strathmore.org. hurry the show is Wednesday and Thursday.

I'm pleased to say that the Woodstock CD was shipped to Oasis on Friday to be pressed. You can get a copy of this CD at our show, at our website, on iTunes, or and perhaps best, by becoming a backer at the $45 level. I'm very excited to see he finished product. I'll be posting an update with the artwork from the CD just for the backers to see, get a peek by backing the project at any level. Thanks for supporting the DC music scene.

Danny Schwartz

Here's a track from the Woodstock CD. This is eighteen year old, Margot MacDonald performing Somebody to Love by Jefferson Airplane. She's backed by John Jennings and Jon Carroll of Mary Chapin Carpenter's band, John Penovich on guitar, and yours truly on drums. Hope you enjoy. More exclusive tracks to be posted for backers only.

Update #1: From the studio

Posted on July 22, 2010

I'm here in Leesburg, VA today at Stonebridge Studios with mixing and mastering engineer, Stuart Martin. We are just finishing up the BandHouse Gigs tribute to Woodstock CD. The show was presented in August 2009 at Strathmore. Stuart will be handling the recording of our British Invasion show this August, so you can be assured the record you are investing in will sound great. I've included a short video of him at the mix station working on the Arlo Guthrie tune, "Coming Into Los Angeles".

I have also included "Tears, Tears, and More Tears" a track from the Allen Toussaint tribute CD that Stuart mixed last year. The song features two DC area favorites Mary Ann Redmond and Tommy Lepson singing.

In the next few days I will post a track or two from the finished Woodstock CD. These will be only released here before the release date, so check back to get exclusive tracks and videos soon. Thank you.
