About this project
WHAT IS SCANOGRAPHY? - Also known as scannography, scanner photography, or scan art it "is the process of capturing digitized images of objects for the purpose of creating printable art using a flatbed scanner." It's the sister to Xerox art but has a longer life than a photocopy.
WHY AM I MAKING THIS BOOK?
A book of its kind just doesn't exist. Go ahead and search books on scanography in Amazon (and I'm not talking about medical books). This book would be a the only resource of its kind. There are many artists out there that have been focusing and creating new techniques in scanography and there needs to be a book that features all the wonderful work out there.
After having fun with my scanner for a couple of years and creating images solely for posters and postcards for friends and family, I didn't know that what I was doing was called scanography, scan art or scanner photography. It wasn't till thinking about making an art book did I find that there is limited information about the whole niche to begin with even though its been around for awhile. Check out scannography.org for more info.
WHAT IS IN THE BOOK?
This book will be an intro to the art featuring some artists and techniques. It will be a soft cover book 8"x9.5" around 100 pages or more.
Here are some of the featured artists from all over the world (links to work):
John Grant, Toru Nakanishi, Marty Klein, Elena Kropaneva, Lil Ashton, Israel Gutierrez, Michael Frieseman, Jaime Ruas, Jens Standke, Christian Staebler, Kurt Novak, Hercilia Lopes, Rebecca Wild, Vicki Ragan, Ellen Hoverkamp, Angki Purbandono, Luis Castelo, Tim Fleming, Ansen Seale, Janet Dwyer, Natascha Sonnenschein, Joanne Kaliontzis,

WHY I NEED YOU?
This funding will make possible the production design, editing, and self publication of this work. Because I am more concerned with sharing the art, I have a low funding goal to get it this project started. Help us show the big publishing companies that this book can be a success!
THE THANK YOU CARD:

For the $225 PLEDGE, the images available will be on this WEBSITE. The images on this sight are solely my images unless otherwise noted and do not represent the diverse scan art that will be shown in the book. Please click on the names of the artists above to see their work.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
