About this project

Wings of Steel is one of the most difficult and the most controversial climb on Yosemite's El Capitan. Twenty-nine years of feuds, slander, lies and rumors surround this legendary route. A second ascent seemed not only improbable but impossible, UNTIL Ammon and Kait decided it was time to test not only the limits of their abilities but their relationship.

Through interviews, photos and video shot on the wall, the story of 60 foot falls, breakdowns both physically and mentally and 13 consecutive days living on a portaledge will be told by two of the world's best and boldest climbers.

FAQ

  • Yes, shooting took place during the climb and interviews are currently being shot.

  • Producing films is expensive. We have decades of filmmaking experience so we are able to get the most bang for a buck.  No salaries are being taken during production. All money raised will cover expenses incurred to shoot the film. Including travel, post production equipment and supplies.

  • Maybe.  We are always looking for people who have a connection to El Cap or have been vocal about this climb over the past 29 years.

  • The climbing footage was shot in Yosemite. Interviews will take place where ever our subjects are.  Currently we have production days scheduled  all over the West Coast.

  • This route was and is very controversial. It is also one of the hardest routes on El Capitan.  Ammon and Kait were only the second team EVER to climb it in 29 years.
