About this project
Over 50 and Out of Work is an ongoing multimedia project that documents the impact of the Great Recession on Americans, 50 and older. We have completed 100 video interviews across the United States, concentrating on states with the highest rates of unemployment. We have also conducted video interviews with experts who set the issues surrounding joblessness among older Americans in context. All of these interviews, as well as data and links to resources and more information, can be viewed on our site.
Now, we are creating a documentary that focuses on the devastating impact that unemployment has had on the lives of three Americans.
We are seeking contributions to fund archival research and purchases that we will use to illustrate how work has changed over the lives of boomers.
