Old school magic! We modernized an enduring visual medium and created a new, iconic gateway into American History. Astonishing!!
"HISTORY YOU CAN HOLD"
Our project chartwheels convey a panoramic understanding and sense of the ongoing historical struggles to achieve, expand and protect Women's Rights; The Right To Vote; and Organized Labor. The history of these aspects of our American experience are, unfortunately, little known by most people. With a core knowledge of specific histories, we gain essential perspectives that help inform our opinions, conversations and civic engagement.
You may wonder how an innovative, contextual timeline - printed on a 9-inch circle with thirteen windows of information on each side - can provide that much knowledge. A recent email from a college freshman says it best: "...the wheel stimulates the mind into processing the information as you turn it and focus on one window at a time...the content can actually be internalized because you are remembering and connecting what you are reading...and because the beautiful black & white images add a powerful, emotional storytelling element. Thank You So Much!"
You can help preserve, protect and share American history for generations to come by supporting our Chartwheel Project. If we reach or exceed our Kickstarter goal of $45,000, we will begin to build and expand a legacy of informed conversation and civic engagement by producing 30,000 of these three chartwheels and distributing them to organizations and institutions, large and small, across the country.
Let the conversations begin...

With your help...
We also have lots of other great American History topics on the drawing board! With your help, we can get this current series launched and accelerate the development and introduction of several new historical chartwheels in the coming months. Once we exceed our monetary goal minimum of $45,000 :)) we will update everyone with our stretch goal plans, which are being kept under wraps for now.
What folks are saying...
“There is something familiar about the chartwheels for most kids. It seems more like a game than a learning tool. And that is exactly what makes it work. It’s not intimidating. When it’s fun, different, new and captivating, you get engagement, and that leads to better retention…it doesn’t get any better!" - High School Teacher, Newark, NJ
“It is better than a timeline or textbook because it connects time with events and policies, and it's fun.” - High School Student, Rankin, MS
“I felt like I was a part of the history I was reading…a feeling of connection to another time…‘holding’ a piece of history in my hand, the history became more a part of me, and I, less of a spectator. What a wonderful educational and personal experience!” - Mother and Artist, New York, NY
"They are excitingly manipulative and, in this age of on-line everything, having a learning tool in your hands that doesn't have to be downloaded or powered on is refreshing and effective." - Educator, New York Metro Region
"This is the only product I have seen in the last two years that has captivated me and that I actually liked!" - Retired International Branding Consultant
“I couldn’t stop thinking about the Civil Rights wheel and the discussion it drew out in class. Tears kept welling up in my eyes all day. It was the first time that I have ever had an open and free-flowing conversation around race with my peers.” - High School Student, Rankin, MS

"Seeding" the Market / Building the Legacy Network
The research, design and writing tasks for our Kickstarter project chartwheels have been completed. In addition, we will be able to draw upon the specific production expertise we applied in the creation of our Modern Civil Rights Movement chartwheel (seen in the video), to execute and manage this phase of the project.
Our biggest challenge will be "building the legacy network":
1) selecting and contacting the entities from our growing database of worthy organizations and institutions that will receive the first and second wave of shipments of our project chartwheels, 2) following up with the recipient point persons on an ongoing basis to ensure that we are receiving timely feedback, in written and/or visual form, 3) archiving, evaluating and "broadcasting" feedback examples to contributors, recipient and related entities, influential "movers & shakers," as well as the media. We plan to utilize college interns whose academic majors and/or interests are aligned with the scope of our chartwheels in order to accomplish most of this work.
Recipient entities include, but are not limited to: secondary and post-secondary educational institutions; grassroots and community organizations; civil rights, women's rights, human rights and social justice organizations; non-partisan public policy/interest and advocacy entities; related foundations and funders; and journalists and media outlets.
