We have officially reach our Kickstarter goal! THANK YOU! If you have yet to pledge and are still interested in being a part of this album, THERE'S STILL TIME. After credit card fees and Kickstarter overhead fees have been factored in, we actually could benefit greatly by moving past our original goal. Furthermore, the project has continued to pick up speed, with production of the music well under way. And the more the band, Todd, & I have immersed ourselves in the recording of these songs, the more invested we've become. There are extra expenses that have continued to reveal themselves in the last month since I started my Kickstarter campaign, and we want to make sure we give these songs the quality and care they deserve and need to BLOW YOU AWAY. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful tools for an independent artist such as myself, so please continue to spread the word if you know of any music lovers who might be interested in this album.

Hey Everyone! An update...
I am excited to announce we have begun the production process. Because I saved some of my own funds, we have had the luxury of beginning the recording process already. Yay! We had our first full day of recording with the band at Wildwood Studios in Nashville, TN and I captured a few pictures from the recording studio that I thought you might like to see. Greetings!
My name is Cassie Peterson and I’m a singer-songwriter based out of Nashville, TN. I am very excited to announce that I am recording a new CD!!! First off, in case you haven’t heard me before, the songs I write, record, and perform represent a unique hybrid of musical sounds, combining Americana, Folk, and Jazz influences.
If you have my last self-titled EP, you might have noticed that it was recorded way back in 2009, almost three entire years ago. Suffice to say, I am overdue for a new recording. I have tons of new songs and I can’t wait to get back into the studio to record what I believe could be my best batch of songs yet. Unfortunately, I don’t have the necessary funding to make it happen on my own, so I’m asking friends and fans to help me by pre-ordering a signed and inscribed CD and/or donating in larger ways if you so choose.
As many of you already know, many AMAZING things resulted from my last EP. Despite it being my first released recording, two of the songs were picked up by Starbucks Inc to be a part of a nationwide in-store playlist. Getting airplay in Starbucks stores nationwide gave me national exposure and put me in touch with many new fans and musical collaborators across the country! Additionally, two of the songs from the CD won me a spot as a finalist in The Kerrville Folk Festival's prestigious New Folk Songwriting Competition in 2010.
Furthermore, in 2011 two brand new songs earned me yet another spot as a finalist at The Kerrville Folk Festival's New Folk Songwriting Competition and this time I came back as a winner - a highly respected honor within the folk music community! Since winning, I’ve been doing tons of traveling, playing shows from The Living Room in NYC to The Avalon Theatre in Easton, Maryland to The Rice Festival in Fischer, Texas and all types of venues in between. I even enjoyed the honor of opening for famed singer-songwriting Gary Nicholson in Dallas at Uncle Calvin’s. Additionally, I’ve performed a couple live radio broadcasts in Knoxville including the WDVX Blue Plate Special and 11 O’Clock Rock.
So let me tell you more about the upcoming project and how you can help me make it happen...
First of all, guitarist/producer/arranger/visionary extraordinaire Todd Lombardo is going to produce it. Todd has performed with Jerry Douglas, Patty Loveless, Vince Gill, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Sara Watkins from Nickel Creek among others. Todd produces some of the most gorgeous acoustic and electric guitar sounds in the universe, and he’s generously agreed to take a large part in both playing on and directing the production of this entire project. His nothing but pristine musical taste will be a major part of this recording from conceptualizing the way the album is going to sound, directing the recording process, as well as overseeing all post-production mixing and mastering. Additionally, world-renown Viktor Krauss, who has recorded with Bill Frisell, Jerry Douglas, Peter Rowan, Dolly Parton, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Janice Ian to name a few, will be playing bass. If that weren’t enough, Josh Hunt who just finished a tour with Alison Krauss and Union Station will be playing drums. And of course, Doug Mosher will be playing all sorts of woodwinds. This is a SERIOUSLY STELLAR band!!! We're scheduled to record at the incredible Wildwood Studios in Franklin, TN, run by Brendan Harkin in January and I’m planning on having the CD finished in my hands by mid-march of 2012.
I’ve saved some of my own money to throw into the pot to get things started, but I’m going to need a lot more to make this CD on a professional scale. The money I raise will be allotted to a variety of costs involved with the album including paying for studio space, musicians, audio engineering, mixing and mastering, CD artwork and photography, and printing copies of the CD when it’s finished.
When the CD is finished, I'll be using it EVERYDAY to further my career as an artist, sending it out to record labels, publishing and licensing companies, radio DJs, printed press and musical reviewers, and venues across the country. I'll be selling the CD at all of my shows and pitching it to management and booking agencies. I'll also be using it to apply to various songwriting competitions that could grant me more exposure...efforts on my part to pitch it into the universe will be monumental.

You may have already heard Cassie Peterson without knowing it. "In My Town," a song she co-wrote with Steve Leslie, was played at Starbucks locations throughout the country in 2010. Cassie doesn't shout at you, but she doesn't whisper to the walls, either. Her voice is like her writing: warm and sweet and true. When she sings about her hometown, you wish it was yours.
Cassie grew up in Nashville. She studied music at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, but her roots kept pulling at her. Now she's come home to bring her distinctive brand of americana to the Music City. Her debut album features some of Nashville's finest musicians, including bassist Byron House, guitarist John Mock and drummer Chris Brown. Most recently, Cassie was a 2011 winner in the Kerrville Folk Festival's prestigious New Folk Songwriting Competition. She is currently preparing to record her second album, which will be produced by guitarist Todd Lombardo and will include Viktor Krauss on bass, Josh Hunt on drums, and Doug Mosher on woodwinds.
