The Story

Angie, a fallen rock n' roll angel, must convince Jay, a down-and-out video store clerk, of his divine potential. Will Jay's hidden demons foil both of their plans? Will Evelyn, the would-be actress from the local produce shop, be his final wake-up call? Or will the devilish Mr. Ecstasy derail his rock n' roll fantasy once and for all?

The Show

Alaska Leavin’ is an original story written and directed by Michael Golden.  Featuring songs composed by the writer/director, Alaska Leavin’ combines elements of rock, pop, folk and musical theatre. Alaska Leavin’ features songs spanning a decade of composition. The script began to be developed in 2011, after which Michael teamed up with writer John Gorenfeld, who has acted as story editor throughout the development of the script.

The Goal

We need $3,000 to help cover the cost of our run at the San Francisco Fringe Festival (Sept 5, 2012 – Sept 16, 2012). This sum includes theatre rental; rehearsal space; the services of 9 actors and an accompanist; costumes; props; set design; and a studio recording session. We are being conservative with what we are asking because we are all chipping in with time, resources, and our own skills because of the passion we have for the project. We would love to exceed our goal, because the cost of launching a project like this will exceed this amount. Anything at all you can offer will be sincerely appreciated.

We will also be hiring a videographer to record one of our shows. This will enable us to solicit funding for future runs of the show.
