The Story

Normally when it comes to a Kickstarter project, people like the include videos. And, normally I would agree, but in this case I didn't want affect anyone's interpretation of these photographs with my own explanation of what they mean to me.

All I can say about these photographs is that they were all inspired by October and Halloween in Virginia. It's the start of the cold. It's the beginning of the end of warm days. I don't think there could be a better time to celebrate Halloween.

Having always been my favorite holiday and favorite time of year I thought I would create a series inspired by Halloween. 

The Medium

I've been a world traveler my entire life. During my travels I've taken up the hobby of collecting masks wherever I go. Something about them always seems to capture the culture of the environment better than any other souvenir. 

Generally I focus on portraits in my work, but I thought this time I could incorporate my masks into my portraits.

This series focuses on the contrast between light and dark. Feel free to interpret that anyway you want. I let the photo's speak for them selves. 

I am starting this kickstarter to get funds for materials to continue the series combining more people with more masks - film, a darkbag, darkcloth, masks. I set my goal at $300, and though I know that this won't entirely cover my materials - any help I can get from other artists, friends, family, and external supporters would be greatly appreciated! Help me make this project happen!
