The story is about...
Adler, a young soldier in the Confederate army, who has not yet had to kill anyone and doubts he will be able to when the time comes. He is posted on the perimeter of a Confederate base camp, along with a much older soldier named Walt. In order to prevent a surprise attack, Adler and Walt are to return to their battalion to report the first sighting of Yankee soldiers. When their post is discovered, Adler hesitates to kill the Yankee soldier who discovered them. In an effort to save Adler, Walt intervenes and kills the Yankee soldier, but also gets shot in the process. Walt pleads for Adler to return to base alone to warn the rest of the troops. Adler races to warn the Confederates, but another Yankee soldier stands in his way. Adler aims at the soldier and hesitates, still unsure if he can pull the trigger. Just before the Yankee soldier is able to fire at him, Adler pulls the trigger. Although Adler can now make it to the troops, he realizes that he will live the rest of his life with blood on his hands.
the story highlights issues which are not often discussed. Adler has to make a decision that is considered a grey area. Should he kill one to save many or die for the belief that it is not right to kill others? The story will pull the audience into this debate while still presenting a unique and entertaining story. Also, this film will help to start the careers of several young filmmakers.
