Hopefully they are just waiting for the feeding frenzy to die down on other miniature KS before restarting Antares

What happened guys? Any news?
Creator T.A. Donnelly on March 20
Any news of a relaunch? (Though not this month please - I've blown my kickstarter budget on Empire of the Dead & Warzone!)
Creator Dark Space Corp on March 4
Hi all - we're still working on the plan ahead, we've made good progress and should have something more solid to talk to you about within a week! thanks for hanging around :)
Creator Industrial Scribe on March 4
Any news on how this is being followed up?
Can't find any mention of a rough plan forward at the moment.
Creator Seth Auldridge on February 18
I feel this comment is important enough to repost here; for those that don't dive into the forums; From Rick on what is next:
"We're taking a bit of a break whilst we figure out how to carry GoA forward given the resources at hand - but mostly we could use a few days just to get out heads clear after all the KS frenzy!
There are a few more models already in progress. One advantage of not being driven by the KS is that we can put more time into the concepts and development.
The game rules are actually quite a bit further on already - as I was working towards an alpha - and I'll tidy those up over the next week or so. Although I can write rules - and lay them out into a pdf for that matter - without extra artwork or photos they will tend to look less professional of course.
The background - I need to take a little more time here and pull together the background into something more focused. There are a few things I've changed my mind about as a result of the KS - one of which is how the human species (Pans) are presented in respect of factions. This is really a change of perspective rather than anything else - but I think it will help map out the universe and make the background more accessible for newcomers.
Although no reflection on those who have worked tireless upon it, the website could use a tidy up and it's a bit of a toss up whether to start again with a new site and new forums, as that might be easier than trying to rebuild this site from where it is now. However - that's not my expertise so I shall rely upon wiser and more techy heads and be guided on that one.
In some respects a longer and more incremental development track does offer opportunities of its own - so there are potential advantages to be explored and worked through. The Kickstarter has certainly got the project off the ground, and in no little way because of the contribution and enthusiasm of our backers. Sorry things didn't go as expected - but thank you all for your support."

What went wrong was just that it was stuck in "pre-order mode". They needed clearly defined stretch goals and unlocks, because all that there was to do was pledge a certain amount to get the rulebook and faction starter you wanted (which itself was hard with no initial concept art). There were no exciting incentives or any reasons to add more money or convince your friends and family to pledge.
A shame, because the whole game is a lovely idea and the setting sounds like it respects the intelligence of its audience.

@Ben Clapperton
Not negative at all, in fact it brings up interesting points and the dragons den comparison was something I didn't consider with my last post.
Im sure they will look at what we have all said and come back stronger for it.
Creator Michael Sullivan on February 14
@Dark Space Corp
Sorry to see the campaign end this way. I'm sure we all wish you the best and look forward to hearing more from GoA in the future!
Hansa looks amazing btw. Please let us know if this model goes on sale.
Creator Ben Clapperton on February 14
@Herrflik
I don't think anyone doubts £300k was a realistic amount needed to get a game like this off the ground. It's more a case that it wasn't a realistic amount for a project on KS that didn't have much more than a name and a bit of background when the campaign started. Had this made it's goal exactly then it would have put it just outside the top 10 all-time for amounts raised on KS by a table top game (not just minis games). It would have been second only to Relic Knights for minis games funded on KS and that was a game with a three year history of miniatures, over a year since the game started being publically playtested and which give away loads of free/cheap stuff.
When the issue of the fundraiser was brought, DSC kept justifying their approach by drawing a distinction between projects which were ready to go and were using KS as a pre-order system and projects which were using KS to raise the funds they needed to be able to go ahead. They placed their own project in the second category and claimed they were using KS for what it was intended for but that wasn't the case. If you attempted to go down a traditional investment route such as a bank, hedge fund, or even going on Dragon's Den, presented them with such an undeveloped project and asked them to give you £300k then you'd be politely told to come back when you'd worked on it some more and had something to show them. Investors on KS shouldn't be treated any differently.
I appreciate this post is coming off as negative and I'm sure I'm not saying anything DSC don't now realise (or at least I hope they do) but I feel it needs to be said so people can understand why this KS failed and how GoA can succeed in future. I really do want it to and I want to see GoA come back to KS and raise the money that a project like this is capable of.
Creator David Gray on February 14
To be honest I lost interest as soon as I heard about the Warzone reboot.
Mutant Chronicles Warzone Resurrection.
Creator Herrflik on February 14
I think 300,000 considering that they were starting from scratch, was realistic and they were putting their own cash behind it as well.
its amazing how much things cost to manufacture and to get a project off the ground (speaking from wallet stinging experience)
Creator Seth Auldridge on February 13
I like the only-human approached; that's what I liked about Firefly. 300k was a high goal, but an honest and realistic one.
Creator John O'Connor on February 13
Personally I always though 300K was wildly optimistic for a miniatures game regardless of who is involved with it. I was willing to support the game on principle even if the background was a little lacklustre for my liking. Too many human factions for my liking regardless of mutation. Science Fiction needs more aliens to sell to a wider audience. I hope to see a relaunch in the near future.
Creator Paul Stacey on February 13
Shame that it will delay proceedings (maybe), but quite honestly pleased to see that when looking for updates on progress I won't have to sift through a wave of moaning and self important comments from people who apparently know everything about running projects (and pretty much everything else it often seems).
Creator Thomas Vie on February 13
I'm sad to see this project cancelled, but I think it was probably the right decision.
If you re-launch (as I would very much like to see) I would hope for the following:
1. At least 3 fully fleshed out factions - each with a detailed write-up, specific art and completed, painted miniatures representing the core troop type (much more important and interesting to me than hero miniatures). I feel it would be better to focus on a few groups/races to start with rather than spread yourselves too thinly. The development of additional forces could always appear as stretch goals.
2. A distinctive, original, detailed setting - Your universe needs to stand out from the crowd with at least a few unique 'big ideas' that shape the setting and provide a framework upon which everything else builds. The background posted so far felt very 'bitty' and ad-hoc with very little tying all the factions together and into the universe. There didn't seem to be a strong underlying narrative at work. Some people like 'sand box' worlds and universes where anything is appropriate and a huge range of ideas are at work but without a strong background you have to compete solely on miniatures (which you largely lacked this campaign) or the rule set (the reputation for which will only really spread post-release) and will face an uphill struggle.
3. I personally lack any huge interest in the online-linked nature of the game - but if this is going to be a large part of your concept it really needs to be fleshed out. This campaign was far less tech savvy than many other kickstarter campaigns that were just promoting physical products. If you want people to invest in a digital gaming platform or system you need to show some IT knowledge and/or a web page that does.
Creator Nick Ireland on February 13
I agree with Ben. I had a lot of friends who were interested but unlike myself had cold feet because just having concepts for a lot of the factions was not good enough for them to invest in the project. I think the project is amazing and like Ben said put out the alpha rules, get some more models done, put pictures out there and come back to KS.
Creator Ben Clapperton on February 13
I'd urge DSC not to give up on Kickstarter but to learn the lessons of this campaign and come back at a later date with one which plays to KS's strengths. Before doing so, take some time to develop the product. Get the aphla playtest rules released, release some minis (especially the ones you've already had sculpted) and come back to the table with a product people feel they can invest in.
It may also be worth doing some sums and seeing what can be offered for a smaller funding total as finishing on KS doesn't have to be the end of this particular fundraiser. Look at what Soda Pop Miniatures were able to do themselves after KS decided to end the fundraiser. If it's possible to retain some of these pledges for more modest rewards then this could help inject some capital to help the project move on in the short-term and get some product out there.
Creator Seth Auldridge on February 13
Here-here! Just keep up the work! Don't go small scale though, just stay true to your words; we were expecting realistic looking models, and we got more rambo-esk models. You have a community now, use them, a 1000 people did give 100 pounds each. Try again! I will be waiting; cheers!
Creator Herrflik on February 13
@ Dark Space Corp
I am really sad that this didn't take off like it should have done. Rick and all the team have my thanks for this kickstarter which held true to the original ideals of the site and was giving us a genuinely different way of gaming (huge fanbase input and very unique rules)
You are all legends, without you war gaming would not be the thriving community it is. You have my backing for any future project be it on here or anywhere else.
Out of interest if you have already invested in Hansa tooling or are at the stage just for this model to enter a small production could we show you our thanks by purchasing the model? Its not much but I for one would slap down a tenner just for a piece of memorabilia and to show some thanks.
Creator victor etherington on February 13
Well that is such a shame, I signed on within the first 10 minutes, very sad day....
Creator Fred C Martin on February 13
Brillant ideas, industry icons, fantastic sculpts! I don't understand why it went south, I am truly sorry for all of us. You have my backing now and in any future endeavor. I will be awaiting any news of a revival with baited breath. "Good Luck" to all of us for success in the future!
Creator Zweischneid on February 13
Probably the right choice, if still sad.
I still hope to see it back, ideally in smaller "increments", e.g.
1 = squad-based Skirmish game ala Necromunda,
2 = some vehicle add-on ala Gorkamorka,
3 = Setting-developing RPG/novels and
4 = the "Big One".
Creator T.A. Donnelly on February 13
Sorry this funding attempt failed. I'll be ready to back a second (presumably smaller scale) campaign - I hope it will be soon...
Creator David Halse on February 13
What a shame, today is total sadness. :( GoA is incredibly exciting and the team alone make it a truly epic proposition! I cant wait to see it re-emerge, I know it will be stronger and even more enticing. Good luck all at DSC.
Creator Shyvax on February 13
it s just a little step back. We all know you guys will come back with all the awesome content needed to rock. Good luck and looking forward to hear from you soon.
Creator Robin Mellberg on February 13
Sad stuff, hopefully GOA will become reality through other means since a sci-fi wargame of this kind would be awesome!
Creator Dark Space Corp on February 13
Thank you everyone it's been a brilliant ride for us too!
Creator Melvin Cheng on February 13
What a sad day. I thought we could see through this kickstarter.
Oh well. Lets look forward to whatever the future holds for GOA.
Thanks for the ride guys.
Creator Talos on February 13
I agree with David for the updates, also on the 50k + stretch, or even 100k + stretch... I've not done too many KS projects, but some get boosted by the stretch goals. Maybe lower rewards for a lower goal, but with a few stretch goals to bring it back to the same level again if it does reach 200-300k.
Creator Mi7 on February 12
Big update tonight i hope!
Creator David Gardiner on February 11
Its a bad template though, for example go back and try and read the last 3-4 pages of updates and you'll find yourself having to wade through the same artwork again and again and again.
Its ok for people who keep up to date and read each update, but its annoying for someone who has just joined the KS and wants to read back a few updates.
Creator Funkychef on February 11
It's a template they use for thier updates, I noticed it was there after the second and just dont continue down anymore, it's not like it's at the start and your forced to read it
Creator Tim Jones on February 11
@David - I was actually thinking something similar this morning... Don't mind having something like that there but surely one sentence is enough :)
Creator David Gardiner on February 10
Anyone else getting sick of seeing the artwork and begging to involve our friends in EVERY SINGLE update.
It just seems like desperation at this stage, sorry, but to be honest, i think you have a lot of good ideas, and the website based campaign system is a great idea.
When i come back to scroll through updates i dont want to have to scroll through pages of the same artwork.
In all honesty, i think you would be better collapsing this KS now, and re-launching with a 50k target and structured stretch goals.
Just my opinion, i'm sure others disagree.
Creator Industrial Scribe on February 10
@Christopher Wood
I thought all models, apart from the drone plastic*set/Sprue* were planned in metal and produced by warlord games??? (and cast with transitional resin masters rather than metal masters for improved quality)
but this hasn't been outright stated, guess we could use some clarification.
Creator Christopher Wood on February 10
Just saw the Freeborn Captain, and a little concerned about the tab at his feet - are the models going to be the same resin-plastic, used in such games as Warmachine, Warpath, etc Dark Space Corp?
Creator Mi7 on February 9
Sweet!
Creator Dark Space Corp on February 9
@ Col - just done your massive shout out, thanks for being Mr 1000 - as Mi7 puts it :)
Creator Dark Space Corp on February 9

Creator Col.Hertford on February 9
YEAH!! BACKER 1000!!!
AKA me
Creator Mi7 on February 9
So who is going to be Mr.1000?
Creator Carl Woodrow on February 9
@Brian I like the dynamic poses in the Infinity range which are very 'anime' in style. However, I'm almost the entire opposite in I am liking the GoA sculpts so far because they don't look anything like the ones in Infinity.
funny old world :)
Creator Brian Skov-Nielsen on February 9
I'm a bit dissapointed. I was hoping that the miniatures was a bit more "real human" like and not as much like GW style. I think that they generaly are to big and brutish. I would have prefered that the design of the miniatures where more like the one in infinity. But Again that is just me :) But Love the background and setting in the game.
Creator Shyvax on February 8
Guys keep up the good work, guys. Very nice update.

It looks like a lot of people are pledging rediculously high because they are sure it won't. I suppose if it did, some folks would wake up with a nasty surprise credit card bill on April 2nd.
Creator Vl on February 7
The most fun will be in case that the project will be successfully funded.
