I will create a series of cello-technique-related instructional videos, which will be posted on YouTube for free public use.

For a few years now, I have been making YouTube videos on cello-related topics to help students practice and teachers teach.  These videos have been quite well received, and I often receive requests for more.  I receive requests from people all over the world, some of whom use my videos to supplement their regular cello lessons, and some of whom do not have the benefit of working with a real live teacher.  Many of their requests concern questions about cello technique.

The goal of this project is to create and share videos about technique.  These videos will address a variety of technical challenges that students face, including vibrato, shifting, thumb position, and bow arm issues.  In these videos, I will explain the mechanics of cello playing and provide exercises that students can use to develop their skills.

I know from my last video-making project that it is nearly impossible to estimate how long it is going to take me to make a specific number of videos.  So for this project, I've decided to base my numbers on how many hours I plan to put in, rather than on how many videos I hope to produce.  I will spend 50 hours making videos.  This includes time spent recording, editing, and posting to YouTube.  Once they have been produced and posted, these videos will be free for anyone and everyone to use.  As of now, I have a list of 37 topics that I plan to address, but this list will grow as the project progresses.

I've multiplied the number of hours I will spend making videos (50) by my hourly teaching rate of $50/hour.  The only additional expenses I have budgeted for are Kickstarter's cut and Amazon's cut.  Therefore, my budget is as follows:

Video production, 50 hours x $50/hour = $2,500

Kickstarter's cut = $125

Amazon's cut = $125

Total = $2,750

I hope you will consider supporting this project.  Thanks for your help!
