Update #8: Almost finished!

Posted on April 27

Dear Kickstarter friends,

We are almost finished editing, and now have a cut that is 1 hour and 20 minutes long.  We also have a new title: The Faun Experiment.

Still to come is the online, the sound mix and then seeking out festivals, broadcast and distribution opportunities.

Daisy Wright our director/editor and I have had an exciting time finding the best way to tell the story.  At times it feels like an excrutiating amount of work but then we realize how far we have come and we know it is worth it!

Coming soon will be our special premiere for all of you.  Will keep you posted on when and where this will happen.

It's been wonderful to meet many of you in the studio and give you your rewards in person.  In May I will call to arrange the private sessions with some of you.  Please let me know if you haven't heard from me and want to check in about when you might expect your specific reward.

Don't miss Gregg in the Theater Breaking Through Barriers production of The Merchant of Venice at The Clurman theater. It's on now until May 13th.  Be sure to introduce yourself after the show.

Thank you for making all of this possible!

Tamar

Update #7: Updates from the Editing Room!

Posted on January 26

Dear Kickstarters,

Daisy and I have spent 12 weeks in the editing room. We now have a one hour cut that covers 2/3rds of the story. We have about another 6 weeks in which to complete our rough cut and hone things down. We've shown it to seven friendly (but tough) critics whose feedback has been extremely helpful and positive. It’s just a matter of time now until we get to show it to all of you!
We are also starting to send out surveys to find out how to best get your awards to you. Feel free to send us a note if you want to convey anything specific to us about that, or anything else.

Best regards to all (340!) of you,

Tamar

I am so glad things are going well. You deserve all the success in the world.

Update #6: Editing Has Officially Begun!

Posted on October 31, 2011

Tamar and I were just discussing walking.  This is something we've been doing for years now and it's a topic that still proves endlessly fascinating to both of us.  I was walking around her living room trying to assimilate the umpteenth piece of information about the elusive mystery that is hind limb ambulation into my body, when we realized that we should take a quick break to let you- our backers- know that today marks the first, offical day of our editing process!

Assisitant Director & Editor, Daisy Wright has literally moved her editing facilities into a spare bedroom in Tamar's apartment and will be working towards a rough cut of Prognosis Of a Faun through January of next year!  We're very excited and plan to keep you in the loop as this process unfolds and the rough cut reaches completion.

In other news, Tamar and I are headed to Baltimore, Maryland this Thursday and Friday to give a lecture/demonstration at Johns Hopkins University about our work.

Wishing you all well and talk to you soon!

Gregg & Tamar, This is so awesome! Thanks for the update. I've been wondering about what's been happening. I was born & raised in Baltimore. As an adult, I went to Johns Hopkins' Kennedy Krieger Institute for advice & followup from one of the surgeons there. I am excited that you will be there to share your success! Wishing you the best, Judy

Update #5: Our Final Update - Thank You All

Posted on October 17, 2011
PLEDGES are STILL DOUBLED until 3:00pm on TUESDAY!

YOU HAVE an AMAZING OPPORTUNITY to SUPPORT THIS PROJECT even BEYOND our ORIGINAL GOAL!

Kickstarter is almost over and we will miss having this vehicle to communicate with all of you. Your phenomenal support and feedback has meant so much to us. It is with great thanks to you that we can now make our film a reality.

During our first meeting at Veselka's in the spring of 2008, we dubbed this entire project, "The Experiment." Neither of us knew where that first meeting would lead. Tamar, a choreographer was interested in working with Gregg. Gregg, an actor, was looking for work.

As you can see, it grew into something larger than either of us could have imagined. None of this would have been possible without the support of our wonderful friends and family, the amazing cast and crew of Diagnosis of a Faun, VSA Arts, and the board of Tamar Rogoff Performance Projects, our talented cadre of cinematographers, our wonderful editor, Daisy Wright, and now all of YOU who have contributed to our SUCCESSFUL Kickstarter campaign! Bravo!

The next phase of Prognosis of a Faun, crafting over 200 hours of footage into a one hour rough cut, begins now. Our goal has always been to make the best piece of art possible. We look forward to keeping you in the loop and meeting you at the premiere of Prognosis of a Faun!

With Gratitude,

Gregg and Tamar

Update #4: Wonderful News!!!

Posted on October 13, 2011

Dear Friends of the Faun,

We have some WONDERFUL NEWS!

Right now, if you give $50 it will become $100!   $300 will become $600!   HOW?

As of TODAY, THURSDAY at 3:00pm, AN ANONYMOUS DONOR WILL MATCH EVERY CONTRIBUTION, DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR UNTIL 3:00pm TUESDAY OCTOBER 18th, OUR LAST DAY!!!

Our next-to-last video update in this final week of our campaign shows what Gregg and I did a lot of :  talk and reflect. Tumultuous and difficult questions poured out of us as we tried to reckon mind and body, self and society, sexuality, and so much more. What fueled our three years of work was a sense of awe about the body and a sense of humor that cropped up at the darkest times that brought us back to our one-step-at-a- time approach.

In this final week, help us achieve our goal and even better go beyond it, so that Prognosis of a Faun, will get made and can speak artfully to you and a larger audience. We’re close to ensuring a rough cut (with the $31,000), but all contributions beyond that sum will help take us to a final, polished film, ready for distribution.

Gregg, and Daisy, our co director and editor, and our whole team join me in thanking you and the amazing family that will match all of your contributions for the next 5 days! Please send this link on, and watch for our final update!

Gregg, Thanks for being so honest. I wish you the very best in being able to share your journey. It is so very important for the future of fellow CP'ers for medical establishment to see your success and adapt current physical therapist treatment methods with those you have discovered through your work with Tamar. With sky-rocketing medical costs, if young adults can prevent the negative affect CP can have on their bodies, the need for expensive health care in their futures can be eliminated. Best Regards to all involved in this worthy project!
