Welcome!  BentCastle features the combined talents of Chris Pallace (illustrator) and Ben Crenshaw (designer).  We've come to reach out to the Kickstarter Community for help getting our latest playing card deck underway.

THE DECK

The new deck employs lavish Steampunk styling, but to a very specific purpose: our homage to Jules Verne.  It's titled, Deck of the Extraordinary Voyages, and draws from a collection of works by Jules Verne known as Les Voyages Extraordinaires.  Within the deck, each suit draws upon his worlds for its theme and imagery. Spades rule the ground and below, Hearts the skies, Diamonds the stars, and Clubs the oceans.

We've got finished art for the aces, numbered cards, backs, box cover, and a few of the face cards. From these you can see the passion and scope of our vision for the completed deck.  As a supporter, you will see the creative process as it unfolds.  As we complete the remaining face cards, jokers, and Emissaries (explained below), we'll post updates.

About our decks, for those of you who are not yet familiar:

We print a 60 card deck. To the standard 52 plus two Jokers, we add four X cards, a double-backed card, and a blank. Those last two are for our magician friends. If you don't know what they're for I can't tell you, because you're not a magician.

The four X cards are for gamers, who will be more than happy to tell you all about the games they play and invent that utilize these extra cards.  The X cards have added an extra conceptual and art dimension to each of the decks  we've created.  In our Pirate deck they were Sea Serpents, in the Zombie deck Grim Reapers, and in this deck they are Emissaries: from the moon, the undersea kingdom, the skies, and subterranean kingdoms.

CARD QUALITY

Our decks are top quality playing cards. They are intended to be as close to a Bicycle playing card as possible. They are not Bicycle playing cards because USPCC will only print a 56 card deck. I am sure some of our kickstarter faithful can attest to the quality of our decks.

OVER-FUNDING BONUSES

Should we reach more than our funding goal of $13,500, we will use it to order a larger print run.  This, in turn, will allow us to price the cards a bit lower- just enough that we can afford to get some extras for you!  (Lots of math went into this part, trust me.)  We already have three bonuses figured out, and will add more if you guys go nuts for this deck.
