What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative projects, allowing us to give rewards to our backers! It is an ALL OR NOTHING campaign based idea, so if we do not raise the money over a certain period of time, no money changes hands. If our project is successful, all of the money we raise will directly fund our film to the last penny, every dollar counts and will help make this film a reality! 

Whats the best way to support Tightening Our Belts? 

Make a pledge via kickstarter! Any contribution, no matter how small or large, it will make a difference!

Young suburbanites, Steve and Mary, are great cooks. And they love to 

show off their skills with sharp kitchen knives. That's unfortunate for the 

Young Boy bound and gagged in their bathroom. A few blocks away, Bill,

the boy's father, scours their affluent neighborhood in search of his son.

It's Halloween - he could be anywhere. When the Young Boy wakes and 

tries to escape, he's chased through the house by Steve and Mary, who

 intend to serve him as a main course. Just in time, Bill shows up at the 

front door and spoils the fun. The Boy is saved. Or so he thinks.

OUR AESTHETIC APPROACH  ~ ~ ~ 

Tightening Our Belts is a story that takes place in the world of the imagination - a place where perceptions are distorted and possibilities are endless. As the  story reaches itʼs climax, we will begin to be exposed to the filmʼs fabrications-

Highly Stylized Production Design 

Outlandish Costuming 

Exaggerated Lighting 

Exaggerated Camera Movements 

The aesthetic approach to Tightening Our Belts will not be consistent throughout. The exteriors will be done in somewhat of a more traditional style, with lighting, editing and production design that donʼt call attention to form. The interiors, however, will be more in line with the constructivist method - incorporating the tools listed above to further express the bizarre and exaggerated subject matter.

WHERE YOUR MONEY WILL GO ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  

So far, getting the production under way has been made possible by the support of family and friends, but we're still nowhere close to being able to fund the project. 

So where does the money we raise go? It will pay and feed the cast and crew, as well as many other things you need to make a film. Location fees, actor fees, permits, camera and lighting equipment, insurance, set dressing and construction, hair, make-up, wardrobe, music, color, sound - Yes, the list is very long, and believe it or not...it isn't everything! All the money we raise will go up on the screen, to produce the highest quality, most compelling and entertaining film we can make. 

Any contribution would be appreciated. On the right side of the screen is the list of contribution and the rewards... every dollar counts!

We’ll have a premiere screening at a location in Savannah, GA (to be announced) and we will invite you to attend regardless of your pledge amount.

We've posted film stills from our first weekend of shooting in the rewards tab at the top of the page. - Also, ALL DONATIONS of $50 or more will reward you with a button badge, a "thank you" credit at the end of the film, a hand written thank you letter from me (the director!), a crew t-shirt, a DVD or Blu-Ray copy of the film, as well as a behind the scenes DVD with an in depth look at the making of TIGHTENING our BELTS.
