What is Megan Cocho's Journey to the Underworld?  

Journey to the Underworld is a concept I had one night. I was sitting around telling stories from childhood about the "Ferryman". When a person passed you would put coins over their eyes to pay the Ferryman to pass the toll for the underworld. From there I started researching  each countries version  of the ferryman or gate keeper into the underworld and the ideas started to flow. I wanted to depict my visions of the underworld and the path you take to get there.

During this very energetic creative process I will be creating thirteen large scale oil paintings depicting the beautiful decay of the underworld. I will be documenting the process through a bi weekly  blog, many photos and live video updates.

Why should you give money?

I am asking for your help for renting studio space and supplies for these large paintings. I start my complete process from scratch  and build each panel from the ground up. The wood cutting, sanding, Gesso. Many layers of glaze and paint to create each individual piece. Including hand built frames.

In return, you can buy each original  painting, every drawing, sketch and color study that will be created. Plus for special backers you will be included in the entire process from having your portrait including in the underworld of your choice  to even joining me in my studio during this process.
