We made: THE LONG GREEN LINE, a feature doc, shot 220 hrs, only used 87 min, now we're making a web series with what's left.
We are raising funds to edit at least 30 new webisodes exploring what it takes to be a successful coach, athlete, and human being. We started this project in 2004, and we shot over 220 hours of footage. The only thing that has been released so far is the 87 minute film which was released in theaters and on DVD in 2008.
There is SO MUCH inspiration packed inside this footage. We'll also be able to create episodes with some of the world's greatest coaches and athletes, including Coach Joe Vigil, Coach Jim Bush, Coach Pat Tyson, Lord Sebastian Coe, Donald Sage, Sean McNamara, and so many more.
We'll use the funds to hire an editing team to cut new inspirational short episodes for internet distribution. We would also like to shoot more interviews with runners and alums to capture a nice "where are they now" story.
This film was independently financed and distributed (mostly from the Producer's credit cards). Our fulfillment company stopped paying us in April of 2010, but kept selling our merchandise. Life handed us lemons, and we're hoping to make lemonade.

Our YouTube channel has over 260,000 views so far, and we think with 30 more episodes, we can get that view count over 1,000,000.
The webseries won't just be for runners, or athletes, or coaches, but it will be for everyone. Coach Newton's wisdom will guide students, teachers, parents, everyone.
ABOUT THE COACH:
Coach Joe Newton is a living legend. 26 AA state cross country titles (1 state track title), over 50 years of coaching, thousands of successfully motivated young men, and a happy family life are just the surface of this amazing man's life which is the legacy of The Long Green Line.

Joe Newton grew up on the south side of Chicago where he attended Parker High School, earning twelve major varsity letters. There was no cross country team at Parker in the forties, but he competed in track, receiving All-American honors in the 100 and 220 yard dashes and the long jump.
Over the past 40 plus years at York High School there have been dozens of athletes that have gone on to attend college on athletic scholarships. There have also been dozens of athletes that have gone onto coaching at the high school and college level along with Olympic, professional athletes, and leaders of industry.
York High School’s accomplishments in competition have been outstanding, but the key to all this achievement has been Newton and his ability to motivate. Motivation and the right mental attitude are characteristic of Coach Joe Newton and the young men who run for him.
Newton has authored four books about coaching cross country, including "Coaching Cross Country Successfully".
