Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
This is our 3rd year and your support is needed as we are undergoing a major expansion. Year 1 - 100 Processional Marchers. Year 2 - 225. This year we already have 450 already signed up on FaceBook for the processional and many more coming to other activities. This expansion creates major risks and challenges.
First we are figuring out a slightly different processional route with less impact on traffic. We also have a larger number of street closures, police and other logistics. We are working with the city to alleviate these challenges but we still anticipate possible hiccups. The challenges when we double the marchers is extensive but the police have been extremely helpful in navigating the risks.
The unspoken risk that is our BIGGEST prospective challenge is of course.... Rain (Or a Hurricane - YES it is still Hurricane Season down here). We haven't worked out all the details but last year we had major winds so we had to make some of the puppets shorter by chopping the support rods on the day of the event. We shall keep our fingers crossed on this one.
No matter what gets thrown at us, we will tackle it with our flexible and innovative volunteer crew.
Even if you cannot underwrite this event we would love to see you there!
