SHORT SYNOPSIS
When a young girl is walking down the beach she discovers a melancholy rock giant. Through her love and devotion she is able to melt away his rocky exterior to the man trapped within... her father

LONGER SYNOPSIS
After her mother’s untimely death a young girl must cope living with a father consumed with grief. When an argument between the two goes sour, the girl decides to run away. She arrives on a beach and soon discovers possessions of her mother buried in the sand. She follows the trail of personal effects to a slow moving, melancholy rock giant. She tries to confront the creature but is pushed aside when he notices she’s wearing one of her mother’s possessions. He takes this from her not out of anger but out of protection of the belonging. The girl acknowledges this and gives the rock giant the other effects of her mother. Together they walk down the beach hand in hand. As the girl loves the rock giant more his rocky exterior falls away until underneath the giant a man emerges, her father. They walk off into the sunrise hand in hand.

"Rock Giant" is a live action puppet film I started working on in 2009. It's heavily influenced and inspired by the legacy of Jim Henson and was meant to be my senior final project at the Savannah College of Art and Design. In many ways "Rock Giant" is my swan song... my magnum opus and I would like to see it finished.

With this film we mean to convey such an important message to the world.
We all know how essential it is that there is someone we can grab on to when the hand of fate changes our lives drastically ... when we feel as if we have lost steady ground underneath our feet… and in a glimpse we lose everything … it is so important that there is someone who extends out a hand, and walks with us to the very end… such individuals stay with us, no matter what… even if we are mean to the people who love us most, nothing will drag them away… with their never dying love, and understanding they will eventually break through the emotional wall we have constructed around us so we wouldn’t get hurt again. And in the end we will run smiling towards the sunrise

"Rock Giant" features a 10 foot tall puppet that was partially destroyed in 2010. I am seeking the necessary funds to rebuild his torso, arms, and legs. These parts would be built using various materials but primarily foam and textured spray paint would be used. For the first puppet I converted plastic trash containers into stilts. Overtime this proved to be rather unsafe for my performer. I would greatly benefit from purchasing actual stilts.

Funds raised on kickstarter would also cover a weeks worth of film equipment, traveling expenses, meals for the cast and crew (under ten people), and filming permits.

As soon as the film is finished we'll be submitting it to dozens of film festivals (some overseas). "Rock Giant" will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people and you will get the utmost satisfaction in knowing that you helped make it happen.
