Simple, Fast, Accurate Mobile Document Scanning

ScanJig is an innovative accessory that holds your iPhone, iPad and many other smart devices in the correct position as you change document pages. The product works with your mobile document scanner app to increase productivity and quickly capture high quality page images with accurate size and format.

The Problem 

To date, document scanner apps required you to stand over each page and move the smart device until you get a full view, take the image without shaking, then use the app to better define page borders, deskew images and adjust quality.

The process was very time consuming and if you needed to do more than one page the work could be very tedious. Each page of the final document varied in size and quality. In addition, older camera technology (less than 5 Megapixel) often required extra lighting and manual adjustments.

Solution - A Simple Innovation

ScanJig holds your mobile device in a fixed position and allows you to quickly change document pages with the correct focus and view each time. Just snap the picture and move to the next page. Your smart device becomes a more productive scanner with uniform page size and consistent image quality.

Most document scanner apps can be used including; CamScanner Pro, Scanner Pro, TurboScan. In addition, ScanJig complements specific apps for enterprise content management and banking.

Using the ScanJig, apps capture document images faster, with consistent quality and uniform size.

ScanJig is built to travel, it's light weight (10 oz) but built strong for full sized tablets.  The boxed set is portable (lays flat) with simple assembly that requires no tools or fasteners. Set up can be completed in a few minutes.

With improved document images; searchable PDF and text recognition (OCR) applications are more efficient and accurate. Also, one and two dimensional barcodes can be interpreted.

ScanJig adds power when you have many pages to scan. Use only your mobile device to capture, upload, archive, and print or email multiple document files. Further, the solution allows you to work seated with easy access to the device's touch screen. The new process reduces the need for traditional document scanners or multifunctional devices.

The product's unique adjustable design provides the flexibility to support a wide variety of smart phones and tablets, with and without protective cases. The architecture also preserves the tight tolerances needed to be an alternative to dedicated scanners.

With high resolution cameras, today's mobile devices are now more powerful on-ramps for cloud storage and data collection applications.

Data Collection - For Education, Government, Healthcare and More

ScanJig opens the door to data collection using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR). For example, teachers can print student test answer forms on plain paper, as many as are needed when they are needed. Completed forms are then captured using your smart device and ScanJig. Why Do We Need Your Help?

After numerous discussions with manufacturers, we have tested a variety materials and have finalized the production process. In addition, user guides have been developed and packaging is ready. To get this project off the ground we need pledges for a minimum of 800 ScanJigs. This will pay for tool and dies and the initial production run in early September, 2012.

With this first kick start an affordable product can be made available to many more users around the world.
